QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
- Previous experience in campaigning, communication, and team management;
- Ability to outline and explain good campaign strategies;
- Ability to take autonomous, quick and sound decision
- A demonstrated commitment to environmental and social justice issues
- fluency in both written and oral English, knowledge of Turkish is an important asset;
- strong in time management, organizational, interpersonal, communication and administrative skills;
- knowledge and understanding of Greenpeace’s overall goals;
- familiarity with nonviolent direct action strategies;
- Ability to operate, lead and stay calm under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging situations
- Presentation and public speaking skills and/or experience
- University education is an advantage

İŞ TANIMI
Purpose of the jobGreenpeace Mediterranean operates a program structure in which campaigners work closely together with colleagues from other departments (actions and volunteers, communication, digital, fundraising) to design and deliver campaigns and projects to achieve specific agreed objectives.
In Turkey, our main campaign is climate and energy. Given it’s size and scope, we have several campaigners working on the issues of coal, nuclear and renewable energy, as well as responding to larger climate change events. We are looking for a leader who will provide strategic leadership and manage this campaign team on day to day basis. The task may also include leading the projects/teams as required, public representation and liaising with Greenpeace global network.
Energy Campaign Team Leader reports to (Deputy) Program Director. This post is based at the Greenpeace Mediterranean office in Istanbul but also involves occasional travel abroad.
Main Responsibilities
Campaign leadership
With support of a (Deputy) Program Director, agree on key strategies and work with the team to translate them into pieces of practical plans to be implemented. Oversee and constantly improve the performance of agreed campaigns and projects. Foster a culture of innovation and smart risk taking within project planning. Identify key opportunities and take a lead in responding to them in the best possible ways. Contribute directly to the campaign work and projects when necessary.
Team management
Line manage individual members of the campaign team members in accordance with current management practices and policies. Make sure the team works together in a smooth end efficient way. Coordinate, delegate and control tasks among the team. Address problems, organize support and make interventions where needed. Ensure that all members of the team follow the appropriate campaign planning procedures. Actively identify development and learning opportunities for team members,
Management of resources
Together with the team, develop and manage budgets related to the campaign and projects. Co-ordinate work and capacity allocation with other departments (communication, digital, actions, volunteers, fundraising) as necessary. Oversee seconded staff, contractors and freelancers as appropriate.
External Networking
Develop and maintain relationships with external parties such as key allies, academics, media, activists, industry, political fora, and other NGOs, in support of the campaign objectives, to ensure maximum interaction and influence with external parties to support achievement of agreed campaign or project objectives.
Greenpeace Representation
Represent Greenpeace at relevant national, international and local meetings/conventions/press conferences with external bodies such as media, industry, governments, NGOs, and major donors/foundations, in order to further the agreed campaign or project objectives.
Support Fundraising
Advise and assist the (Deputy) Programme Director and/or Fundraising department on the development of funding proposals for major donors and foundations, and subsequent campaign reporting and representation. Provide briefs to fundraisers, liaise with major donors, Foundations and other supporters of Greenpeace work as required in order to ensure information used for fundraising and funding proposals are factually correct and in line with the agreed campaign strategy.
Communication and Offline and online mobilisation
Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of innovative strategies for communication tools and offline and online mobilisation in cooperation with other departments, in order to maximize impact on the media/public/target in achieving agreed campaign or project objectives.
