QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Koç University’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations in Beyoğlu is dedicated to fostering research on the history, art, architecture, and archaeology of Anatolia through fellowships, exhibitions, symposia, library collections, and publications. To develop and facilitate scholarly publishing initiatives in these research areas, Koç University will be hiring an “Editor” for the RCAC.
- PhD degree in Archaeology, History of Art, History or related field
- Experience in editing a variety of texts – especially academic research
- Demonstrable competencies such as communication, teamwork and collaboration with others
- Ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects
- Excellent command of both English and Turkish (written and spoken)
- Flexibility in work schedule, as needed
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office applications
- No military obligation for male applicants
İŞ TANIMI
The Editor is responsible for:
- Being in control for the timely execution of the whole production process that starts with soliciting or receiving manuscripts and culminating in the distribution of the published books to bookstores
- Coordinating work done by translators, proofreaders, the public relations office, and the media
- Working with the publishing coordinator in carrying out the production program
- Bringing newly submitted manuscripts and book projects to the attention of the editorial board
- Being up to date with titles of special interest published worldwide as well as academic work in Turkey falling within the scope of RCAC series
- Conducting all correspondence concerning manuscripts
- Working with the publishing coordinator, other editors, authors and other parties concerned to bring published books to a wider audience, organizing events, setting up interviews, commissioning reviews, creating ads, etc.
- Providing content for and management of the RCAC’s digital presence on the web
