• Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices;
• Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation;
• Carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organization's environmental risks and financial costs;
• Promoting and raising awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility;
• Managing the development and implementation of an environmental & safety management system;
• Coordinating public hearings and consultations on environmental and safety matters;
• Managing relations with the board of directors, senior management and internal staff;
• Establish & Embed safety systems & practices in the plant;
• Ensure compliance with legal obligations and company requirements. Track and regularly report the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives to Plant Manager;
• Maintain the area risk register and ensure that risk assessments are completed for all activities with significant risks;
• Establish requirements and provide guidance in PPE management;
• To monitor that all accidents are properly reported and investigated by Department Managers as per company protocols, and that lessons learnt are shared across the Area and with others;
• Prepare and coordinate the external occupational health and safety audit and the audit process. Monitor that audit recommendations are being implemented within agreed timescales;
• Monitor safety performance through internal audits and develop proactive reporting system.
• Ensure that all employees are inducted, as per the safety procedures;
