QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Yuksel Project International was founded in 1978 and since then, with it has become the largest, fully independent engineering and consulting company in Turkey with progressive accumulation of knowledge, human resources and business capacity, Yuksel Project International having completed numerous large-size projects in many fields of engineering, both at home and abroad, has attained a well-deserved respect in its sector.
With its employees over 1000, Yuksel Project International provides services in the following specialities: feasibility studies, planning, survey, design, construction supervision, quality control, project management, commissioning and operational training. The main objectives of Yuksel Project International are to improve its service quality continuously, maximize the customer satisfaction, and sustain its leading position in the Turkish Consultancy sector, and to become a globally active consultant.
The Marmaray Project provides an upgrading of the commuter rail system in İstanbul, connecting Halkalı on the European side with Gebze on the Asian side with an uninterrupted, modern, high capacity commuter rail system. Istanbul Strait Rail Tube Crossing and Commuter Railway Upgrading Project (MARMARAY) comprises of three phases as following:
- Constructing an immersed tube tunnel under the Istanbul Strait with approaching tunnels, three underground stations and one surface station.
- Upgrading the existing commuter rail system including a new third track on ground and completely new electrical and mechanical systems.
- Procurement of the rolling stock.
The total length of the Project is approximately 76 km; immersed tunnel part is 1,4 km., approaching tunnels are 12,2 km. and surface tracks to be upgraded are nearly 63 km. The Project will have three tracks. While two of the tracks will serve as high capacity commuter rail system, the third track will be used by intercity passenger and freight trains between the continents Asia and Europe. The tunnel will provide uninterrupted railway connection for Asia and Europe. The Project has also significance for Turkey's connection to the Trans European Network. The first phase of the railway was opened in October 2013 comprising of the Bosporus tunnel crossing and 5 stations.
Currently, we are looking for a Rolling Stock Engineer who will work for the Marmaray Project, to join the team of the Avrasya Consult which has been engaged to represent the Turkish government’s procurement of the railway and rolling stock under and engineering consultancy agreement.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in railway engineering,
- Very good command of written and spoken English,
- Highly organized and detail-oriented,
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines,
- Ability to work as part of a team,
- No travel restrictions,
- Should hold a valid driver licence.
- Residency in Istanbul is a must.

- To perform audits of records a check on rolling stock supplier reporting,
- To prepare reports, following site visits and make recommendations regarding rolling stock supplier activities,
- To participate in joint meetings in order to set programs and resolve open technical issues,
- To perform failure review and identify technical solutions to systemic problems,
- To review the reports, design and specifications for rolling stock,
- To monitor rolling stock supplier activities on site,
- Travelling to Edirne and other train stabling locations to check on rolling stock supplier activities in that location,
- To attend rolling stock tests some of which may occur late at night and early morning,
- To be able for searching the open market for prices of materials, products and services for comparison with offers being made by the rolling stock supplier.
