BRITISH EMBASSY ANKARA

The British Embassy in Ankara is seeking a Project Co-ordinator to manage the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Prosperity Programme Fund. The position is available immediately until at least 31 March 2015, with the possibility of extension.
 

Skills and Attributes Required

  • Previous experience in project development and management in NGOs, international organisations, public or private agencies.
  • Ability to supervise NGOs, international organisations, public and other stakeholders in implementing projects.
  • Ability to build relationships with government institutions and other key stakeholders.
  • Is able to use own-initiative to develop new project ideas and find solutions to problems.
  • Strong English and Turkish communication skills, both written and oral. Good presentation, reporting and narrative skills.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines, without compromising the quality of work or customer care.
  • Adaptable and open to change.
  • Strong team-player.
  • Financial experience and knowledge of spreadsheets and basic accounting would be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of economic, climate change, energy security and / or commercial issues.

İŞ TANIMI

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project development and implementation
  • Management of FCO Prosperity funds in Turkey (worth approx. £400k/ year). Programmes cover economic, climate change, energy security and support sustainable global growth and build prosperity. 
  • To oversee whole project process consisting of: 
    • Assisting project partners (NGOs or other applicant organisations) to design project bids in line with the Embassy’s and wider UK FCO’s Objectives. Assessing proposals and potential implementing organisations. Producing recommendations for the Turkey-wide Programme Board.
    • Co-ordinating project implementation. Ensuring activities are being conducted in accordance with agreed plans and objectives.
    • Monitoring and evaluation of projects and implementing agencies.
    • Financial management of projects in line with FCO requirements, checking disbursements and monitoring of spend (including reports, budgets, procurement and Value for Money)
  • Design and delivery of some self-implemented projects, including responsibility for efforts to improve the Embassy’s environment / greening performance.
2. Miscellaneous

•    When needed support for the wider Embassy Global Issues and Political teams, in areas such as European Union, capacity building, human rights, migration and other project work.
•    The job holder will be expected to manage his or her own administrative tasks and to support the Head of Projects Team / political officers when required.
