QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Serves as one of two-armed bodyguard assigned to the Embassy Branch Office in Gaziantep (EBO). When required, incumbent may occupy a role of Site Advance, Agent-in-Charge, or Shift Leader, directly contributing to tactical protective operations of Chief of Mission personnel. Incumbent implements all instructions and procedures designated by the Regional Security Office (RSO) and defaults to best practices of Diplomatic Security's Office of Dignitary Protection in the absence of specific guidance. Incumbent travels as necessary throughout Turkey in support of Mission Turkey's objectives. Incumbent routinely works directly alongside Turkish National Police and security representatives in the private, public and NGO sectors.
EXPERIENCE: Incumbent must have at least two years of experience working in the field of protective security, with at least one year of prior service with the Turkish National Police or Turkish Armed Forces and/or the US Government.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent must possess an understanding and general knowledge of security operations at the Embassy and its facilities in Mission Turkey. Incumbent must possess knowledge of TNP practices, as they relate to the security of the Embassy and its facilities. Incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the indigenous and transnational terrorist groups and organizations which operate in Turkey. Incumbent must have knowledge of Turkish private security laws and regulations, to include knowledge of use of force regulations. Incumbent must possess the necessary computer literacy to operate various computer programs.
High school diploma is required.
LANGUAGE: English level III (Good Working Knowledge) in Speaking/Reading/Writing and Turkish level IV (Fluent) in Speaking/Reading/Writing. This may be tested. Incumbent may be required to provide basic oral translation during training events, and other official duties as needed.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The incumbent must possess valid, current driver's license for the class of the vehicle(s) assigned or authorized to drive. The incumbent must have had driver's license for a minimum of five years. Incumbent must maintain a tactful approach when interacting with peers, members of the American community, host nation officials, business center tenants, and officials of the government of Turkey. Incumbent must have an adequate personal fitness level to fully participate in training events. Incumbent must be able to anticipate problems, and must be willing to actively mitigate problems while exercising sound judgement often while acting independently. Incumbent must be willing and able to serve as liaison for the Mission as required by Regional Security Office (RSO) and other Mission executive personnel. Incumbent must be available to work on evenings, weekends, early mornings, U.S. and Turkish holidays, as needed.
