QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Architectural Engineer

International Group – Istanbul, Turkey

B.L. Harbert International is looking for an Architectural Coordinator / Engineer to work with the International Group in Istanbul, Turkey. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Turkish and English, as a daily responsibilities, including interactions with office personnel, on-site personnel, subcontractors, and outside vendors will require this.  Candidate’s ability to understand construction drawings and specifications are vital. Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASTM, ACI, AISC, and CRSI are preferred for a candidate.

Specific experience includes but is not limited to: material quantity estimating; tender document preparation; vendor proposal evaluation and scope analysis; construction document analysis; construction detail development; submittals, RFI’s, LEED implementation, tracking and submission, procurement requisitions, quality control, field instructions, and day-to-day problem solving. The Architectural Coordinator will be responsible for supporting international project sites from the bid phase through the close-out of the project.

Responsibilities:

Tasks include but are not limited to:

·      Tender document preparation, REA and RFP pricing

·      Overall Design development coordination

·      Architectural, civil and structural material procurement, Issue Purchase Requests (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs)

·      Oversee design and construction schedule preparation and monitoring (Primavera P6)

·      Project coordination; submittals, shop drawings and the coordination of material and schedules. Applicants will work with BLHI project staff, client representatives, and vendors to provide communication and support to project sites.

·      Project start-up plan development and submittals

·      Value-Engineering (VE) and Constructability Studies

·      Carry out Life-Cycle Cost Study Analyses (LCAAs)

·      Be primary liaison between project teams and suppliers for all communication

·      Support On-site Project Coordinators and Site Personnel as needed

·      Develop coordination drawings for field use and shop drawings for construction

·      Coordinate vendor start-ups and commissioning

·      Coordinate client furnished materials, shipping and installation contractors

·      Coordinate construction close out documentation and procedures

·      Manage LEED from design through submission of final certification application

 

 

Requirements:

·     Turkish Citizen or Lawful Registered Resident

·     5+ years’ experience in the management or support of design and/or design-build projects

·     Undergraduate Degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering related discipline or Construction Management discipline

·     Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel

·     LEED Certified

·     Ability to use AutoCAD/Revit and On-Screen Takeoff programs

·     Ability to use BIM proficiently

·     Ability to provide survey and setting out coordination drawings and instructions

·     Ability to relocate to Istanbul, Turkey

Preferences:

·     Experience in highly technical US Government, civil/industrial or commercial design projects

·     Experience leading a successful DOD or DOS project overseas

·     Experience working on site as Project Engineer or similar position

·     Experience leading multi-discipline design teams

·     Experience supporting a successful project overseas and/or previous international travel

·     Experience sourcing materials in Turkey and internationally

Work Environment:

·      Must be able to work in an office environment

·      Must have flexibility with hours in order to better accommodate business needs

·      Must be willing to travel throughout Turkey and Internationally for business needs
