Çayeli Bakır İşletmeleri A.Ş. (CBI) is owned by First Quantum Minerals Ltd. which is an established and rapidly growing mining and metals company .CBI is an underground mine and produces copper and zinc in Madenli, Çayeli in the Province of Rize on the eastern Black Sea coast. During the life of the operation, CBI has continuously looked for opportunities to enhance its reputation and performance through the application of leading international practice in all areas of its business. CBI is sensitive to the environment, respectful to the local people and one of the leading enterprises in terms of its technical infrastructure in the Turkish mining sector.

The role would include, but not limited to the following responsibilities:

·         Identifying and managing project’s significant social risks and develop strategies to mitigate/eliminate them

·         Engaging and building relationships with stakeholders, including communities, government offices, NGOs, media and private sector.

·         Leading meetings with project affected communities and other project stakeholders, as needed

·         Visiting rural settlements and arranging meetings to brief communities regarding the project progress

·         Managing grievances and addressing social and environmental impacts and concerns efficiently in line with international standards

·         Help project teams access exploration lands and inform communities regarding activities

·         Identifying long term sustainable community development initiatives in a participatory manger

·         Manage relations with media representatives, draft content for social media in cooperation with the communication agency

·         Liaise as necessary with Meskan Project Manager to oversee site works to ensure safety, security, and quality of works

·         Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Meskan Project Manager  

·         Ensuring documentation and submitting periodic narrative reports to the project manager

·         Prepare and conduct presentations, lead fundraising activities, organize events.

The ideal candidate is required to have the following qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in a Social Science (Public Relations, Political Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, Development Studies, etc.).

·         Minimum 2 years work experiences in community relations, community development, stakeholder engagement, preferably in extractive, mining or humanitarian sectors

·         Must have demonstrated ability to think strategically

·         Experience in formulating culturally appropriated consultation and communication strategies

·         Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both one-on-one and in large as well as small groups

·         Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·         Working knowledge of written and spoken English

·         Should be literate in use of MS Office programs
