Clinerion is a Swiss-based technology and real-world data services company with international presence in Switzerland and Turkey. Clinerion provides disruptive software solutions supporting life sciences companies and hospitals in the process of developing new medicines.

One of our key solutions is the Patient Network Explorer (PNEx), which automatically finds eligible patients for clinical studies in Big Data settings, such as hospitals and other healthcare organizations. In drug development, this addresses a major problem of finding significantly more eligible patients faster and at lower costs. PNEx works through integration with electronic health records at hospitals and represents a federated network of servers, allowing central querying and local patient identification. PNEx also generates data for Real-World Evidence.

To strengthen our existing Development team in Istanbul, Turkey we are currently looking for a passionate/enthusiasticSenior/Mid-Level Backend Developer.

Your Role

As a member of the Clinerion development team, you will design and code new software components. Maintenance of existing code and fulfilling requests for incremental enhancements are part of this role.

The ideal candidate will be someone with a deep understanding in Java development and in implementing solutions for semantic search engines. The main focus in this role is the maintenance and extension of a core component for managing medical terminologies, based on the ontology management service (OMS), as well as generated statistics on using the terminologies for processing electronical health records in hospital environments.

You will work in a collaborative team environment that encourages performing at your best and challenges you to engineer elegant solutions for complex business problems. You will work closely with analysts, developers, testers and the technical lead to design and develop robust and scalable software.

Your Responsibilities

• Build and maintain server-side persistence and service components.
• Implementation and maintenance of our services for managing medical terminologies and statistics: business logic, semantic/persistence layer; service composition and workflows.
• Implementation of routines in our ontology management service (OMS).
• Consume, collect and process statistics generated on top of electronical health records and provide service methods to be consumed by various graphical user interfaces.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
• Implementation of interfaces to 3rd party applications and databases.
• Engineer elegant solutions for complex business problems.
• Analyzing code segments regularly, reviewing code work for accuracy and functionality.

 Your Profile

• Master’s degree in computer science or closely related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience on the job
• Deep knowledge about semantic technologies and semantic search, ideally with focus on medical terminologies.
• Deep experience in Java development, Eclipse as IDE, build tools (e.g., Maven), server-side architectures based on Spring, JDBC, Hibernate
• Solid knowledge and experience in using Lucene for building up indexes for semantic search; good knowledge with relational database technologies
• Knowledge of frameworks for generating statistics and dashboards for visualizing insights about available terminologies and terminology usage is a plus.
• Understanding of enterprise software, design patterns and data structures
• Very good English language skills, verbally and in writing for being able to communicate in a development team with many nationalities.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective interpersonal and team-oriented communication skills
• Passion for learning new technologies fast.
• Open to work in agile development teams (Scrum, Sprint, JIRA).
