Job Description

Hydrology and Optimization Specialist role is a part of Portfolio Management – Hydro Optimization team. The primary mission of this role is long & short term optimization of hydro assets to maximize profit of company.

You will be involved in:

·     Forecast inflow & wind generation, develop supportive models, search and implement best solutions to improve accuracy

·         Meteorological and hydrological data management and analysis

·         Operation, improvement & maintenance of measurement systems (meteorological stations and flow meters)

·         Optimize hydro assets in both long & short term to maximize profit of company

·         Decide maintenance timeline of related power plants

·         Key responsible for lobbying activities & bureaucratic relations with local and/or general directorate of state hydraulic works and/or other related authorities

·         Commercially operates power plants due to inflow forecasts, up/downstream constraints etc.

·         Make decision of when and to what capacity of plants will operate in the day ahead market (short term) considering ancillary services.

·         Responsible to keep at least budgeted P&L of Renewable Assets and search for additional opportunities.

·         Accountable to develop hydro asset management capabilities both operational activities (optimize & plan the hydro asset production and interface between optimization team & operation units) and project activities (automation of tools and processes, development of methodologies and activities).

·         Respect contractual, regulatory and compliance framework in order to avoid any penalties

·         Define & execute optimization and hedging strategies (in case of spot market)  in collaboration with Dispatch & Trading teams

·         Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities

·         Excellent use of Microsoft Office tools especially in Excel

Technical Qualifications

·         Graduate qualification in analytically based discipline e.g. science/engineering/math

·         MSc in the field of Hydrology, Hydraulic, Water Resource Management or Energy Studies is highly preferred

·         Technical know-how about renewable power generation technologies

·    Preferably 1-2 years’ experience in hydrological modelling, hydro-meteorological forecasting, reservoir management and hydro power modelling

·         VBA, SQL and Python knowledge would be beneficial

·         Know-how and experience about Turkish Electricity Market would be beneficial
