The Role

The Substation Design Engineer is the performer of the high voltage substation design works, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.
 

Responsibilities

Basic design of primary systems:

• Analyse customer requirements and national/international standards to prepare basic design for electromechanical (primary) systems belonging to High Voltage Substations. Documents include Single Line Diagram, electrical calculations like short circuit/cable sizing and preparation of basic layout/arrangement drawings.
• Detailed design: Prepare detailed arrangement / layout and connection drawings in AutoCAD and/or 3D.
• Calculation: Prepare and modify electrical calculation sheets/tools by investigating standards and previous applications. Learn the concept, identify gaps in existing tool, apply the concept to the tool and preparing guides for the new/modified tool.

 
 
 

Document & configuration management

• Manages & tracks evolution of input data
• Track customer comments and answers, along with document resubmission)
• Ensures conformance of material with specification & documentation
• Manage return status of project documentation (approved, commented, rejected ..)
• Tracks & manages identified or potential deviations
• Manages evolution of customer requirements & associated impacts

• Implement design freeze and EHS in design
• Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team
• Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention.
• Routinely observes routines and behaviors of others and provides immediate feedback regarding unsafe behavior and celebrates achievements or safe behaviors.
