QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Koç University Communications Directorate will be hiring a part-time Photographer.

The Photographer is passionate about using photography to tell compelling stories. The person in this role is a creative storyteller who consistently produces high quality, engaging, high impact work, whether using a multimedia photo essay, or single well-timed, well-composed image. The University Photographer will thrive on collaboration and enjoy finding opportunities to work creatively with teammates in the Communications Office and other departments.

The Photographer will be responsible for producing high-quality photography for a wide range of university digital and print mediums that reflect the university’s visual identity.

Responsibilities:

Arrange photoshoots, including identifying location, equipment and participants.
Capture creative candid/action photos that exemplify vibrant student life and academic experiences.
Contribute to content marketing decisions and develop visual stories across all platforms.
Document campus life, quickly identifying unplanned photo storytelling opportunities.
Plan and produce photography for key university events and provide images for departments and offices when required
Capture headshots, group photos, or other planned photos needed for university.
Optimize lighting and composition of university photography
Store photos in organized, accessible formats, ensuring images are named correctly, tagged and that the photo archive is maintained
Conduct post-production image editing
Maintain photographic equipment
Collect and maintain signatures for photo model release forms
Advise campus units on photography best practices
Keep abreast on photography best practices and take part in training opportunities

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in photography, film studies, cinematography, or related field
3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience is preferred. Fewer years of experience may be acceptable with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional talent.
Hands-on experience with editing software
Creative and artistic skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, senior leaders.
Must have the ability to receive and interpret feedback, and to share expertise and perspective, in a collaborative, productive manner.
