Research Engineer

Koç University – Vice Presidency for Research and Development will be hiring a Research Engineer with the following qualifications:

• Experience with SDR, GNU Radio/ LabView , Matlab/Simulink, and ROS,
  
• Experience with programming and scripting languages, e.g. Java, Python, C, C++, Objective-C etc.
• 1+ years of work and/or academic experience with V2X technologies i.e. DSRC/ITS- G5(A)/LTE-V,C-V2X,
• A solid understanding of network communications technology - Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6 ,
• Understanding of RF and understanding of physical channel models,
  
• Knowledge of distributed systems, real-time systems, embedded systems, and cyber-physical systems,
• Experience with relevant measurement and simulation tools (CANalyzer ,CANoe, and PCAN tools),
• Familiarity with automotive systems and networks such as CAN, Ethernet,
  
• 1+ years of work and/or academic research experience with network simulators such as NS-3, SUMO, Qualnet,
• Experience with network communication protocols, transport protocols and payload optimization techniques and frameworks,
• Electronic hardware design experience (i.e. SPICE, Advanced Design System, Prototype PCB Production) for the purpose of developing demonstration prototypes,
• Use state-of-the art testing, logging and analysis tools,
  
• Experience with Academic Research Collaboration Partners,
  
• Ability to develop, propose, and lead a research project, e.g. planning, reporting, and managing time/team/external collaborators ,
• Accuracy, quality-oriented, “can do” attitude,
  
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle varying workload,
  
• Enthusiasm and passion to develop connected cars,
  
• Must be fully confident of writing/maintaining code,

Job Description

• Responsible for research, development and “Proof of Concept” Demonstration /simulations of Connected Car applications, vehicle/infrastructure integrations and functionalities ,
• Conduct research on Connected Vehicles related to OSI communication layer implementation, latency minimization, throughput maximization, mobility optimization, and more,
• Support design, integration, and validation of on-board communications including DSRC, LTE-V2X, 5G in real-world and closed-track testing environments,
• Requirements definition, analysis and management within the domain of connected vehicles. Take part in the definition and maintenance of hardware/software requirements specification Define, analyze and validate requirements in terms of technical feasibility, risks and testability,
• Write technical specifications regarding LTE/5G based V2X applications ,
  
• Develop and advance existing and new V2X communication technologies on flexible development platforms (SDR),
• Write, manage, and maintain development use-cases,
  
• Design and execute test plans on simulation, lab. and field,
  
• Simulate ideas using computer simulations such as ns3, SUMO, Qualnet or CARLA/PreScan,
• Execute simulations for evaluating suitability of connectivity technologies for automotive environments,
• Evaluate benchmark/standard compliant systems, architectures and solutions,
  
• Integrate V2X equipment into vehicle and infrastructure,
  
• Create intellectual property, publish research papers and technical reports at high ranked scientific conferences,
• Contribute to other research projects across KUFOTAL as a vehicular connectivity,
  
• Researcher / System Developer subject matter expert, helping to identify and address essential Vehicular Connectivity aspects of various projects
