Job Description

Development Manager is responsible for leading and guiding a team of developers, support and DWH Team. Also responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project s/he or teams are assigned.

In addition, this individual is responsible for working with all IT managers & team leads to manage/analyze budgets. This individual maintains excellent communication with upper management both within and across organizations to ensure successful implementations. The focus for the Development Manager is driving organizational effectiveness and accountability and equally serves as a point of contact with the Analysis Team, PMO, IT System & Operations, Service Management and Business Clients facilitating planning, prioritization and collaboration between groups.  

  •     Provides strong leadership, team management, and mentor skills to effectively lead team members and activities (design & architecture, testing, release management, etc…)
  •     Implementation and execution of software development principles, best practices and methodologies with alignment to regional standards
  •     Assignments throughout the team in order to effectively utilize resources
  •     Leads continuous process improvement to optimize software development processes and methodologies. Recognizes the need existing software development policies and procedures that require changes and improvements.
  •     Evaluates and recommends software development, testing and management processes (SDLC) with secure coding best practices and policies
  •     Discusses / Meets with managers and other key partners and stakeholders to provide technical advice and resolve problems
  •     Ensures the decisions are well informed and aligned with business goals & consultation of application design and solution tradeoffs
  •     Vendor Management – creates effective relationships with vendors to enable successful delivery of services and solutions
  •     Recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives in short-term and/or long-term planning.
  •     Completes applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  •     Updates job knowledge by researching new technologies and software products
  •     Excellent knowledge of technology architectures, Oracle Technologies and Microsoft .Net Technologies
  •     Knowledge and experience with object-oriented and multi-thread programming 
  •     Excellent knowledge of software design patterns, n-tier & SOA architectures, and various web technologies & protocols including HTTP, SOAP, XML, JSon Objects, Restful Web Services & Web Services
  •     Results-oriented individual with strong problem solving and negotiation skills
  •     Reviews workload and FTE requirements
  •     Proactively resolves conflict among team members and functional teams
  •     Translating business strategy/need into a technology agenda and executes on the agenda
  •     Manages development department budget and resources
  •     Provide direction and support to the teams and track project deliverables.
  •     Ensure the quality of the output in terms of the NN Development Standards
  •     Constantly monitor and report on progress, issues and risks of the project to all stakeholders
  •     Provide functional and methodological guidelines and instructions to internal and external vendors / teams.
  •     Ensures that investments and initiatives in development plans are aligned with business strategy and priorities.
  •     Prioritizes the needs of team based on changing functional needs, resource capacity, risk exposure, and their interdependencies.
  •     Enables “on time management” for project needs, timelines (milestone achievements), and resource utilization,
  •     Manages overall IT Development Team, mentors and manages the team members 
  •     Partners with IT and business unit leaders to develop resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support and output for projects and daily operational activities.
  •     Provides clear communication to all stakeholders in business & IT units.
