QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Duty Station: Ankara, Mardin, Kilis

Qualifications and Experience Required

We are searching for a Senior GBV Specialist with the following qualifications:

-          Excellent command of English. Additional languages will be a district advantage (Arabic, Kurdish, etc.)
-          At least Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences (Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, etc.)
-          Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender or related technical fields will be advantage.
-          Sound knowledge of and experience in working in gender field. Prior experience in working with children, youth, and refugees, as well as understanding of the region and community to work with is an asset.
-          Prior knowledge of Humanitarian Principles, conflicts setting, IDPs, refugees and Syrian Crisis in Turkey as well as protection frameworks.
-          Project/targets-based work and reporting experience with UN agencies. Excellent document preparation and drafting skills.
-          Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills. 
-          Experience in research methodologies
-          Ability to work at varying levels of institutions and stakeholders, including UN and Government partners, Civil Society organisations and local communities. 
-          Dedicated and committed to teamwork
-          Proficient MS Office user

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Program Planning

-          Lead assessment to identify settlements of vulnerable women and girls in the catchment areas of centre-based activities
-          Conduct GBV prevention and protection needs assessments among the affected populations
-          Map points of service for survivors of GBV and vulnerable individuals, and identify points of entry and support structures for reinforcement
-          Analyse trends of GBV and develop / adjust program strategies to meet needs
-          Contribute to program design and the preparation of future concept notes and proposals

2. Program Implementation and Capacity Development

-          Provide guidance to the development of materials for awareness-raising on the various topics related to SGBV
-          Identify the risks and mitigate the SGBV for prevention and protection in liaison with RET staff.
-          Develop guides, manuals and informative printed and digital materials for the staff and the SGVB survivors in the fields of fragility.
-          Document lessons learnt and best practices by collecting information and coordinating with the field staff.
-          Supervise and coach the social workers and psychologists in charge of the psychosocial counselling.
-          Conduct mapping and develop GBV referral pathways in target locations by reaching out to and partner with relevant local actors
-          Identify and reinforce existing support mechanisms and work closely with local and regional counterparts to ensure community buy-in and cultural appropriateness of activities
-          Build capacity of psychosocial and health workers to offer professional and confidential services including referrals to SGBV survivors, including: developing a referral database, referral pathways, facilitation of contact between service provider and survivor, survivor consent to share information by using the Inter-Agency GBV Referral Form
-          Coordinate with national and local actors to strengthen support and information networks
-          Ensure participation from programme participants in program development, implementation, and evaluation and feedback mechanisms for accountability

3. Monitoring, Evaluation

-          Support the development of appropriate M&E tools and the collection of program data from program sites
-          Maintain program files and documentation as per program management minimum standards, including maintaining the confidentiality of programme participants’ data
-          Conduct monitoring visits to project sites as necessary
-          Provide regular evaluation reports to the Program Technical Staff concerning satisfaction, needs and demands
-          Compile regular technical (SGBV) program reports to the Program Technical Staff on time and with accurate data

4. Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

-          Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within RET International and amongst beneficiaries served by RET International
