Additive Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking to recruit a Metal Additive Manufacturing Engineer who will be affiliated with Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center in Teknopark (Pendik).

About the Department
Sabanci University-Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (IMC) is currently undergoing extensive growth in the direction of Additive Manufacturing. The IMC is an industrial-scale research and technology development facility established in June 2016. The IMC provides facilities for component design, manufacture, assembly, product development, process prototyping, fundamental and applied research, incubation services and commercialization opportunities in integrated manufacturing. 
The candidates must have earned degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate an excellence in manufacturing technologies and research.  Candidates with interests in Metal Additive Manufacturing processes especially in Electron Beam Melting or Selective Laser Melting Additive Manufacturing processes are particularly encouraged to apply. 

The successful candidates will have the relevant skills and experience specified below:

• Have a BSc degree (or equivalent experience),
• At least 3 years of experience,
• Experience in Numerical Control (NC) Programming of machine tools and metallurgical characterization of metals,
• Experience in developing manufacturing methods for metal components used in industries such as aerospace, automotive etc.,
• Specialised metal additive manufacturing,
• Information Technology skills, including the ability to use specialised packages, in addition to Microsoft Office etc.,
• Ability to continuously monitor and check results and accommodate new developments in research projects to deal with the unpredictability in project planning,
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, report writing skills and experience of delivering presentations,
• Experience of reviewing individual and colleague progress and performance,
• Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving, draw the best from colleagues and analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications,
• Ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities as well as  to co-ordinate and liaise with other members of the research group over work progress,
• No military obligation for male candidates.

İŞ TANIMI

• Design and re-design for Additive Manufacturing Processes,
• Post processing samples with support removal, heat treatment and finishing,
• Sample preparation and metallurgic characterization,
• Design fixtures and tooling solutions,
• Write supporting documents to contribute to and support the work of the Research Group such as reports, interim reports and proposals,
• Interact with industrial partners,
• Analyse and record data to aid the design of future research and produce useful findings for stakeholders,
• Presenting research findings.

Planning and Organising 

• Plan projects within a duration span from weeks up to a year,
• Use discretion to determine priorities, follow appropriate procedures and resolve any conflicts to meet targets and deadlines,
• Coordinate and liaise with other members of the research group,
• Maintain project plans in MS Project, and maintain an ordered list of priorities,
• Plan activities several months in advance, to meet deadlines for distribution of project final reports and final presentations.

Resource Management 

• Capability to operate test hardware, and to maintain it in good working order,
• Installation and operation of software for data acquisition, analysis and modelling.

• Liaise with shop floor staff to plan and run machining trials,
• Interaction with staff of all grades and roles, including delivery of clear and concise presentations.
