QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Six Senses Kaplankaya presents a mosaic of architecture, history and art, and is within easy reach many famed archaeological sites. There are 141 guestrooms including six suites (75 in the main building and 66 Ridge Villas), all boasting stunning views to the Aegean Sea. Aegean & Mediterranean-inspired fresh, sustainable cuisine interwoven with Turkish elements and flavors is the overarching theme of three dining venues, introducing ‘Eat with Six Senses’ concept by sourcing local and fresh products. The expansive 10,000 square meter Spa, Fitness and Health & Healing Center offers guests and residents a truly integrative approach to optimal wellness. Six Senses Kaplankaya is an idyllic destination for celebrations. It also has facilities to accommodate team-building programs. With many excellent guest experiences on offer, the resort can customize activities to suit active guests and guests who prefer to simply sit back and relax.

Scope

 

  •          Manage resort’s ongoing compliance to the Six Senses Sustainability Guidelines for Operations and execution of the resort-specific Sustainability Action Plan that was developed/approved by Home Office Sustainability.
  •          Training - With HR, develop new host training material (approved by Home Office Sustainability) quarterly (at a minimum), support HR delivery of training material to 100% of Resort hosts
  •          Ensure all directives on environmental protection and preservation, re-usage and minimum wastage, purchasing and packaging such as the abolition of single-use plastic by 2022, social responsibility and all other practices documented in the Sustainability Guidelines are followed in the resort to maintain a harmonious and sensitive approach to our environment and cultural surroundings.
  •          Manage Sustainability funds on a monthly basis and ensure that the funds are collected and distributed in an effective and transparent manner, documenting the projects/initiatives the funds support.
  •          Community Relations – Develop and maintain relationships with key community organizations and representatives (i.e., schools, community groups, local governments, tourism associations).
  •          Guest Feedback – Ensure that all guest feedback relevant to sustainability on the property is documented and actioned upon in a timely manner.
  •          Lead the Resort Sustainability Team, with support from the General Manager.
  •          Drive innovation for resource efficiency, encourage fun and quirky repurposing of ‘waste’, and act as a focal point for ideas and initiatives from all Resort hosts.
  •          Communicate relevant sustainability projects/initiatives and expectations on resort’s management action and/or support from Home Office Sustainability to resort teams.
  •          Communicate the Best Practices from other properties shared throughout Six Senses Global Sustainability Team, and support their adaptation and implementation at the Resort.
  •          Develop and lead Sustainable host events on a monthly basis which are fun, engaging and supportive of a culture of sustainability among the team.
  •          Connect your resort with globally recognized sustainability events, initiatives, and ‘citizen science’ (example: Earth Day, World Ocean’s Day, Global Shoreline Clean-Up, etc.) for guests and hosts.
  •          Assist to the General Manager in the development of annual CAPEX budgets relative to the 2020 5-year plan.
  •          Manage existing relationships with sustainability-related partners the property currently has and identify opportunities for enhancing existing or adding new partnerships, as applicable.
  •          Cultivate strategic partnerships with organizations to receive Sustainability Fund support, and in-kind support from Six Senses hosts, based on guidance around themes and causes from GM and Home Office Sustainability.
  •          Develop (with Experiences Team) and lead Sustainability-related experiences for guests which highlight the properties sustainability efforts, the local community/culture, the unique environment, the properties Sustainability Fund projects, etc.
  •          Share highlights of Sustainability Fund projects to local PR Manager.
  •          Support local PR Manager to proactively contribute to social media outlets with sustainability related content (i.e. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
  •          Support local PR manager to assist in writing sustainability content for the external and internal newsletters.
  •          Provide guidance to local PR team on their accurate and eloquent description of Sustainability aspects of the resort, Sustainability Fund projects, and strategic partnerships.
  •          Report global achievements of sustainability fund internally to Home Office Sustainability, and share select highlights with PR for external communication.

Qualifications

  •          Bachelor’s degree in a complimentary field, such as; marine biology, ecology, outdoor education, public health, ethnobotany, permaculture, or other environmental/social specialty which could support activities outside of core competencies.
  •          4+ years’ experience working in sustainability related role.
  •          Excellent command on both verbal and written in English.
  •          Additional languages are beneficial.
  •          Solid understanding of the latest trends and techniques in sustainability
  •          Some resort, hospitality, and/or facility management experience preferred.
  •          Proficient in MS Office applications
  •          Problem solving and analysis skills.
  •          Ability to quantify and analyze basic sustainability indicators (energy, carbon, water and waste).
  •          Ability to manage, train and motivate a variety of people.
  •          Exceptional customer relationship skills.
  •          Creative and innovative, capable of delivering products and services that will differentiate in the region’s luxury hotel market.
  •          Demonstrated understanding of Sustainability.
  •          Comfortable engaging with a wide range of cultures in diverse locations and settings.
  •          Consistently exhibits company values in all interactions with hosts, company leadership, guests and the wider world.
  •          Strong team work and positive attitude with good interpersonal skills.
