What is the role?

We are looking for a Database Architect to build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical database models.

For this role, you should know how to analyze system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data. Hands-on experience with MongoDB/PostgreSQL is also required.

As a Database Architect you will be responsible for analyzing, creating, manipulating, and organizing database systems. You will work as a team member with users of the database as well as developers and designers of company software and systems. You may be responsible for creating solutions to security breaches, potential cyberattacks, or system malfunctions related to natural disasters. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability.

• Responsible for the monitoring and uptime of all production databases.

• Estimate PostgreSQL database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage.

• Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any needed downtime.

• Set database usage standards with developers.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.

• Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.

• Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.

• Recommend optimizations to existing application queries.

• Set up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes.

• Create and enforce database development standards.

• Optimize new and current database systems

• Define security and backup procedures

• Plan and install upgrades of database management system software to enhance database performance.

• Demonstrate database technical functionality, such as performance, security and reliability

• Document and communicate database schemas, database architectures, using accepted notations.

• Identify, evaluate and recommend hardware or software technologies to achieve desired database performance

• Manage data integration and train users on effective implementation of database practices

• Collaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements.

• Provide technical support to junior staff or clients.

• Support complex web-based applications.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proven work experience as a Database Architect or similar role

• In-depth understanding of database structure principles

• Bachelor’s degree

• 3+ years experience as a database administrator 

• Keen analysis and organizational skills

• Attention to detail

• Ability to solve problems creatively and efficiently

• Ability to communicate effectively with other team members and users

• Ability to successfully articulate user needs into an end product

• Familiarity with tools related to data migration, data warehousing, data modeling, data integration, and database design is preferred
