Sompo is looking for a talented, analytical, energetic, and results-driven professional to serve as a Analytics Executive within the Commercial Lines Pricing and Underwriting Analytics Function.

This person will play an instrumental role in supporting Sompo’s commercial lines efforts to address strategic activities, helping underwriters to make better and more informed decisions. You will be responsible for developing analytical insights which help grow the business through consumer, commercial, technology and operations led initiatives. We are looking for a data scientist to help us discover the valuable information hidden in our vast amounts of data, to support different business lines. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities. Reports to Commercial Lines Pricing and Underwriting Analytics Manager

Job Description:

·        Manage and mobilize analytics resources to meet business needs

·        Promotes the benefits of quantitative techniques and analysis.

·        Communicate with various levels of management on a business and technical         level, able to identify how to appropriately use analytical techniques even in areas   with no prior experience.

·        Build/improve ML/DL models to solve complex problems, get actionable insights    and drive business decisions,

·        Collaborating with the Pricing and Actuarial teams as part of the Data     Community team and supporting the Data Community process

·        Ensure the development of pricing strategies and tariffs for all products within   the scope of SME Insurances, Medium-Large Enterprises, Transportation,   Engineering insurances.

·        Perform statistical analysis and/or data mining methods to discover hidden   patterns and relations in data to answer business questions,

·        Develop automation models and underwiter decision support tools in job   acceptance processes, it contributes to the development of underwriting quality,   the accuracy and standardization of business decisions taken, and minimizing   the risks arising from manual processes.

·        To regularly share the results of the models and analyzes with the relevant units   within the company, evaluate the analysis outputs, make action suggestions and   follow the implementation of the actions taken.

·        Training internal customers when necessary.

Qualifications

·        University degree Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences, Statistics,     Mathematics or related fields

·        Minimum 2 years of Data Scientist job experience

·        Ability to use analytical tools such as KNIME, SAS, Modeler etc.

·        Python, R experience is an asset

·        Insurance experience is an asset

·        Intellectual curiosity and ability to handle multiple projects and challenging   deadlines,

·        Good command of written and spoken English
