QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
The Anchor-Presenter is responsible for anchoring newscasts, live anchoring in the field and reporting news stories for television on-air, from the field and from the newsroom.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Anchor a minimum of 5 days per week with the expectation to Anchor as needed to cover for absences of fellow Anchors, reading copy, ad-libbing between elements, introducing live and taped reports and features, and interviewing on-air guests,
- Analyze and interpret information to improve the audience’s understanding,
- Report on multiple stories in a given day, often in multiple newscasts, frequently working solo,
- Cultivate and maintain news sources throughout the community,
- Contact, interview and confirm news sources for television reports,
- Use of enterprise skills to identify hard-news stories for delivery on television,
- Contribute ideas for enterprise stories and new angles on continuing stories,
- Proven success in delivering breaking news stories,
- Field report stories for television,
- Host other ANEWS programs and special activities (on and off-air) in a positive and professional manner,
- Participate in ANEWS promotional, public relations and public affairs campaigns as approved by the ANEWS News Director,
- Write scripts and produce stories of program-length formats, as requested by the ANEWS Television News Director or designee,
- Direct field operations as requested,
- Be totally conversant with the newsroom computer systems (old and new) and continually contribute information to its data base,
- Learn new systems as they are implemented,
- Attend informational seminars and workshops that further advance professional journalist knowledge on issues and skills,
- Provide coaching to other news personnel as requested by the ANEWS News Director and Managing Editor,
- Maintain a professional, working relationship with all ANEWS News team members,
- Alert the ANEWS News Director to any news coverage that may cause problems for ANEWS legally, corporately, or in the community,
- Attend all rehearsals, news management meetings or other department meetings as requested by the ANEWS News Director,
QUALİFİCATİONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- B.A Degree in Journalism, Communications, or Other discipline preferred,
- At least 5 years experience as an Anchor and Reporter required,
- Strong writing and editorial skills required,
- Consistent demonstration of the following skills is required,
- Ability to narrate, ad-lib and add value to live breaking news and severe weather coverage,
- The ability to engage in investigative reporting that adds depth to the newscast,
- Thorough understanding of social media and demonstrated ability to move audience between all platforms,
- Demonstrate consistently high proficiency with the necessary technical, writing, and presentation skills for television broadcasts,

- Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism,
- Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide-range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects,
