Patient Engagement Specialist

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Goal

Provide excellent and compassionate care to help patients achieve overall improved health. 

 

Summary/Objective

A Patient Services Representative will offer excellent customer service to our new and existing patients. They are responsible for the telephonic processing of patients to the physician's practice. This individual will be personable and capable of engaging the patient and creating a pleasant telephone encounter while accurately and efficiently verifying patient demographics, collecting patient balances and scheduling future appointments, etc.  Additionally, the Patient Services Representative will foster a compassionate relationship with their patients and manages an efficient business workflow.

 

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Typical duties include:

Perform telephone office administrative tasks

Efficiently and accurately verify patient demographics using an EMR

Verify insurance and request authorization when applicable

Collect applicable patient balances

Schedule patients for follow-up appointments, surgical procedures, etc.

Maintain knowledge of multiple insurance companies’ requirements including Medicaid and Medicare

Efficiently navigate several different healthcare databases with ease

Collaborate with staff and health care professionals to ensure customer satisfaction and shared goals are achieved

Use, protect, and disclose patient’s protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards

Supervisory Responsibility

**Working Hours  12:00 pm to 9:00 pm 8.5 hours per weekdays
