We are looking for a Senior Environmental & Social Engineerfor YILDIRIM Group’s metals & mining subsidiary,YILMADEN Holding, to be assigned at our headquarters in Maslak, Istanbul.

Responsibilities

• To define the Environmental Social Governance (ESG)/Sustainability Strategies & Targets and Sustainability Reporting (GRI based) activities, announces them to the company´s stakeholders.
• To support the Environmental Management, Social Responsibility and Sustainability activities in line with related ISO standards within YILMADEN sites.
• To define/develop the environmental management and social responsibility strategies /programs and submits them to the HESSR Director and Environmental and Social Responsibility Manager for approval.
• To support & follow up the integration of ESG model into the HESSR management system for entire YILMADEN.
• To monitor and control whether HESSR works are carried out at sites and makes supervision if necessary.
• To develop HESSR Management Systems and related culture programs within YILMADEN and submits them to the approval of the Environmental and Social Responsibility Manager and HESSR Director, and ensures that they are carried out within YILMADEN.
• To act as a Business Partner for the sites/subsidiaries with regards to Environmental & Social Responsibility needs & issues, as well as for the defined sites/subsidiaries with regards to HESSR needs & issues.
• To analyse and report the details of Health Safety and Environmental and Social Responsibility – HESSR (including Environmental Social Governance (ESG)) performances of the sites. To develop and suggest site-specific or entire YILMADEN implementations and programs that improve sites and overall YILMADEN performances.
• To provide guidance to sites with regard to issues around environmental management and social responsibility.
• To support/develop regular reports and analysis of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) model.
• To evaluate the possible energy, waste, water savings opportunities in the area of responsibility in line with company strategies and supporting its implementation.
• To support the allocation of the necessary resources for HQ HESSR studies, and initiatives developed by the HQ HESSR team.
• To support/participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and refinement of HESSR (Health, Safety, Environmental, and Social Responsibility) Management System (Global Operating Procedures - GOPs), programs, and training in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 26000, and other international standards.
• To develop/update and support the implementation of the IT tool/s used for the management of HESSR activities, records and statistics.
• To support/conduct HESSR/ESG due diligence process and to determine and report the risk level by investigating the sites and documents in new site/company purchases, to support the preparation the final Health & Safety – Environmental and Social Due Diligence report.
•  To conduct site visits to monitor the implementations outlined by the Company's HESSR Plans and Procedures and, to develop the CAPAs, to assign these CAPAs to relevant persons through the information technology applications and following up the process after these visits, to report the process to the Environmental and Social Responsibility Manager and HESSR Director.
• To review Incident Alerts, Root Cause Investigation and Lessons Learned Reports, and to report to HESSR Director and to ensure Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) and lessons learned are effectively communicated and constantly applied to sites.
• To prepare the HESSR Annual Plans for the Head Quarter and sites, to follow-up the planned tasks, to report to the Environmental and Social Manager and HESSR Director

Qualifications

• Having a degree in environmental engineering or equivalentPreferably to have 5 years of experience in HESSR management. Have at least 2 years of experience in related operations (preferably underground mining or metal industry).
• To have a working knowledge of local regulations, as well as other International Environmental and Health and Safety Laws & Standards (including but not limited to; Environmental & Social Policies of IFIs (EBRD, IFC etc.), Best Available Techniques (BATs), etc).
• Have experience on GRI Sustainability reporting
• Have the ability to balance and prioritize multiple & multidiscipline projects.
• Possess strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
