Columbia Global Centers | Turkey is one of a network of eight Global Centers created by Columbia University to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by an increasingly interdependent global context. The Centers are the next step in Columbia’s long history as an international research university, helping to stimulate new perspectives and expand our knowledge through a globalized research agenda. The Centers foster opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, learning and exchange of ideas between the University and regional and country-specific contexts, as well as across the Centers.
 
Headquartered in Istanbul, Columbia Global Centers | Turkey was launched in November 2011 and became fully operational in February 2012.
 
The Center facilitates Columbia’s cooperation and partnerships with local universities, think-tanks, civil society organizations, state institutions, the private sector and the media in Turkey.  Some of the research and scholarly initiatives are country-specific, while others are regionally focused and involve multiple centers engaged in a truly global conversations.
