Demir-Halk Bank (DHB for short) is still a relatively young bank, it was established in 1992 in Rotterdam.
From the outset, trade finance has been a major business focus for our bank. This made it appear logical to locate at one of the crossroads of trade in Western Europe, the Dutch city of Rotterdam. DHB's specialty is the provision of trade finance services for Turkish corporations and their Western European business partners. Thus, whether you are a seasoned exporter or importer or a novice to doing business with Turkey, talk to us about your needs.
Soon after its establishment, Demir-Halk Bank began to expand the retail services it provided, and branches were established in central locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
In 1997, our bank took its first step towards building an international presence in the European market: Germany. Today, our branches in Germany provide the full range of DHB Bank's services in both trade finance and retail banking. We have branches in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Berlin and Munich within our Germany network.
We continue our expansion in Europe: in 1999 we started to provide our services to Belgium with our Brussels Branch. We have a second branch in Antwerp since May 2001.
In addition to all of our European operations, our representative office in Istanbul is our liaison to Turkey.
Since its modest beginnings thirteen years ago, Demir-Halk Bank has come a long way. Today, the bank has a paid-up capital of EUR 113,45 million, and its balance sheet size is EUR 1,74 billion.
In step with the continuous expansion in Demir-Halk Bank's business volume, our staff has grown to reach a total of 288 employees in 4 countries, by the end of 2003.
As an important step forward, we introduced our internet banking service to our customers in May 2001.
