The story of Layne Bowler began in 1882 when "Mahlon Layne" needed a pump to bring the water from the deep well he dug to the surface of the earth. Since centrifugal pumps could not suction more than a certain depth, the pump to be used to draw water from the well had to be designed differently from all the pumps of that time. The Layne/Bowler manufacturing, which was started by the inventor M.Layne and the entrepreneur "P.D. Bowler", who brought groundwater to the effective use of humanity, in Mississippi in 1903, became the pioneer of vertical shaft and submersible turbine pumps that have gained wide use and production all over the world today.
Layne Bowler Pompa Sanayi A.Ş. was established in 1965 in the capital Ankara as one of the first industrial enterprises in the pump sector of our country. The partner of the company, which was established by private law, as a state enterprise and with great opportunities, was the creator of these pumps, Layne-Bowler USA. The company, which immediately saved the country's valuable resources for pump imports, took the largest share, if not all, of the market and became one of the shining stars of Turkey, which was already at the beginning of the industrialization process in those years.
Since the first day of its establishment, Layne Bowler has been not only a production facility, but also a reliable manufacturing institution where engineering works will never stop with its institutionalism, total quality and environmental management system, researcher and innovative structure. As one of the first attempts, it spread its technology not only in Turkey but also in its region. Today, it is known that many domestic and foreign companies operating in pump manufacturing have entered the sector by taking this pioneering technology as an example. Maintaining its leading brand image with its deepening technology in niche areas and the privilege of after-sales services, Layne Bowler is today a technology center that develops engineering solutions for the most demanding conditions such as high pressure (130 bar), high temperature (200 C), large flow rates (7500 lt/h) and the highest standards such as energy (thermal, geothermal power plants), refining (refineries and offshore oil platforms).
The engineering department, which is also developing its own software, uses digital twins, rapid prototyping and simulation techniques while creating unrivaled products or systems that are autographed within the energy and maintenance repair expenses with in entire life cycle witnessed remotely under the chapter of sustainability and green transformation. Layne Bowler, together with the mother company Samsun Makina Sanayi A.Ş. as of 1993, are in a unique position among their competitors in the field of pumping systems and infrastructure networks in terms of design, foundry based manufacturing and servicing facilities as well as test and performance verification investments.
