The sewing machine is one of the most useful inventions in history, and at its core lies a love story. Love first touches fabrics, colors, and dreams. Then, it meets the needle and thread.
Isaac Merritt Singer saw his wife's endless struggle with sewing and looked for ways to relieve her burden. To save her delicate fingers and beautiful eyes from exhaustion, he turned his dreams into reality and added a remarkable invention to the world of innovation in 1850. On August 12, 1851, Singer patented his invention, lightening the workload not only for his wife but for anyone who could afford this machine.
After producing the first straight-stitch sewing machine in Boston in 1850, Isaac Merritt Singer obtained its patent on August 12, 1851. From that day on, Singer became the most popular sewing machine brand. Before his invention, sewing machines were heavy, bulky, difficult to use, frequently malfunctioning, and unreliable. With Singer’s innovation, the sewing machine became lighter, easier to transport and use. Moreover, it was extremely durable, with a strong technical support team always ready to assist, making it a trustworthy choice.
In the 1850s, Singer became the first multinational/global company to begin production in Europe after the United States.
The first Singer sewing machine was sold in Turkey in 1886. The company opened its first store in 1904 and its factory in 1959. Singer became the first foreign company in Turkey to establish dealerships and issue invoices.
Singer was also the first company to use direct marketing methods and apply permission-based marketing in Turkey. Additionally, it was among the pioneers in implementing the authorized dealer model in the country.
Singer introduced various firsts in Turkey, including preparing user manuals, offering widespread service support, launching the warranty coupon system, and providing training in sewing and embroidery. The company also played a role in the history of Turkey’s leading fashion and textile brands.
Throughout all of Turkey’s transformations, Singer has consistently prioritized one key principle: unconditional customer satisfaction.
Beyond product variety, Singer has been providing support in after-sales service, repairs, and spare parts for years and will continue to do so. Although Singer closed its factory in Turkey in 2004, its headquarters in Ataşehir continues to import products from abroad, supplying thousands of sales points with state-of-the-art sewing machines.

Aşk önce kumaşlara, renklere ve hayallere dokunur. Sonra iğne ve iplikle buluşur. Isaac Merritt Singer; karısının bitmek, tükenmek bilmeyen dikiş uğraşını görür ve onu bu dertten kurtarmanın yollarını arar. Narin parmakları ve güzel gözleri yorulmasın diye düşlerini gerçeğe dönüştürür ve 1850’de buluşlar dünyasına müthiş bir icat ekler. 12 Ağustos 1851 yılında da bu icadı için patent alan Singer, sadece karısının değil, bu makinayı satın alabilecek herkesin yükünü azaltmış olur.
Isaac Merritt Singer, ilk düz dikiş makinesini 1850 yılında Boston'da ürettikten sonra ,dikiş makinesinin patentini, 12 Ağustos 1851' de aldı ve o günden itibaren Singer, en popüler dikiş makinesi oldu. Singer'in icadından önce dikiş makineleri ağır ve hantaldı, kullanımı zahmetliydi, sık sık bozulurdu, güvenilmezdi. Singer'le birlikte dikiş makinesi hafifledi, taşıması da kullanması da kolaylaştı. Üstelik çok sağlamdı ve geniş bir teknik destek kadrosu hep hazırdı, güvenilirdi.
Singer, 1850'lerde ABD'den sonra Avrupa'da da üretime başlayan ilk çok uluslu/global şirket oldu.
İlk Singer dikiş makinesi Türkiye'de 1886 yılında satıldı. Şirket, ilk mağazasını 1904 yılında, fabrikayı ise 1959'da açtı.
Singer, Türkiye'de bayilik açan ve fatura kesen ilk yabancı şirket oldu.
Singer "doğrudan pazarlarma" yöntemlerini kullanan, Türkiye'de "izinli pazarlama yöntemi"ni kullanan ilk fırma oldu, Yetkili satıcı" modelini Türkiye'de ilk uygulayan şirketlerden biri yine Singer oldu.
Türkiye'de kullanma klavuzunu hazırlayan, yaygın servis hizmeti veren, "garanti kuponu" uygulamasını başlatan, dikiş-nakış konusunda eğitim veren ilk kurum oldu. Ayrıca Singer, Türkiye'nin önde gelen bütün konfeksiyon markalarının tarihinde de pay sahibidir.
Türkiye'nin geçirdiği tüm değişimler sırasında Singer bir konunun önceliğini hep korudu: koşulsuz müşteri memnuniyeti.
Singer, ürün çeşitliliğinin yanı sıra, satış sonrası destek, tamirat ve yedek parça konusunda yıllardır destek vermekte ve vermeye devam edecek. 2004 yılında Türkiye’deki fabrikası kapatan Singer, Ataşahir’de bulunan genel müdürlüğünde, ürünlerini yurtdışından ithal ederek binlerce satış noktasında son teknoloji ürünlerini satmaya devam etmektedir.
