About Solectron Istanbul, Turkey

Solectron Corporation (NYSE: SLR), the world's premier supply-chain facilitator for customized electronics technology, manufacturing and service solutions has completed the acquisition of seven Nortel Networks manufacturing facilities on September 2000. Istanbul site is one of those 7 sites which are located in Canada, USA, Mexico, UK, France, Northern Ireland and Turkey.

Istanbul facility was founded by Nortel Networks and Turkish Telecom in 1967 to provide telecommunication equipment. During the period of 33 years, Nortel Networks Netas produced urban switches for more than 10 millions of subscribers in Turkey and nearby countries. Rural and private branch exchanges, power systems, optical trasmission equipment, fixed wireless access systems, military electronics and various telephone sets including DECT RF also represent the wide range of design and manufacturing experience in that location. Solectron extended its presence to Turkey by acquiring the electronic manufacturing processes of Nortel Networks Netas.

Scope of Business: To provide turnkey or consigned basis electronics manufacturing, new product introduction and repair services for customers. Solectron Istanbul manufactures more than 400 different electronic circuit assemblies for telecommunication products and also provides field return repair services for installed base of Nortel Networks in Turkey with 190 employees in 4.178 m2.

Well experienced workforce delivers services in the areas of digital, analogue, power, radio frequency, optical, military manufacturing and testing. High speed and fine pitch SMD placement capabilities are in line with Solectron's global technology roadmap. No-clean soldering in nitrogen atmosphere, X-Ray inspection, high density in-circuit test and flying probe test processes guarantee high quality production.

Company has received ISO9001, ISO14000, AQAP-1 and AQAP-4 certifications for years and re-registered BS EN ISO 9001:2000 by BSI in 2002.
