The Senior Accounting and Tax Specialist role reports directly to the Market Finance Operations Lead located in Istanbul, Turkey and is responsible from local activities related to coordination of closing activities, tax processes, transfer pricing issues, internal and external audits, general accounting process and continually looking to improve financial support. Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Coordination of monthly closing activities with related parties including local finance team and other GBS towers.
• Follow up tax matters and monthly filings.
• Follow up transfer pricing process and closely monitor the environment.
• Dealing with internal auditors during yearly internal audits
• Dealing with external auditors including tax and TFRS.
• Identify/resolve discrepancies and complex technical accounting issues as necessary
• Handle accounting policy and procedure inquiries, ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
• Identify issues and continuous improvement opportunities and communicate to management along with potential range of solutions
• Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of Pfizer’s financial processes and systems; ensure the existence of adequate internal controls
• Participate in or lead special projects that require innovative and analytical skills

Technical Skill Requirements

• The individual must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills and be willing to actively partner with other functions to drive meaningful business results
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
• Highly proactive and a “self-starter”
• Strong Communication skills written and verbal, ability to deliver messages and key highlights and clear messages to different decision makers and different levels of the organization
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and the ability to multi-task, consistently meeting deadlines on multiple projects and activities.
• Ability to positively work and function under pressure and tight timelines. Highly organized, strong time management skills
• SAP knowledge is a plus
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Solid accounting skills Qualifications (i.e., preferred education, experience, attributes)
• University degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum 4 years finance / accounting experience, within a major multinational company, big four preferred
• Local GAAP, TFRS and US GAAP knowledge
• Strong understanding of the financial flow and availability of financial data in a large, complex, multi-national organization
• Possess excellent presentation and communication skills and demonstrated ability to provide clear, concise, and insightful updates on financial issues
• Excellent command of both written and spoken English
• Willingness and potential for learning and development
