Position: Process Safety Expert Turkey, Middle East and Russia

Location: Dilovası & Çayırova, Turkey

Job Description:

• Process Safety Incident investigation, root cause analysis and passing on the lessons learned. Whenever it comes to significant PS incident they should be properly investigated and measures must be taken for the future in order not to let them happen again. Also the implementation of success control for the taken measures must be part of the whole improvement actions. And follow the PSI rate of the area actively.
• Creation of specific plant safety concepts, material safety concepts or process safety concepts e.g. safety concept for the storage of monomers RESTAB. Same like concepts might be needed for other in the area existing special plants, material handlings etc.
• Planning and implementation of safety reviews and safety related consulting within the area. Analyze and proactively create a regional specific overview of all existing plants and their time tables, means when they are about to have a Clean Sheet Review or just a simple safety review. Support the sites in creating their respective Plant Safety Concepts, in case they are not existing yet or if needs to be updated.
• Provision of training courses, delivering of lectures and publications for the production sites within the area implementation of the BASF Process Safety Training Directive (G-P-PRS-030) beginning with work out of participants matrix and then work out a training plan for all identified persons, utilizing the related training presentation materials on the BASF Process Safety Intranet pages. Actively support and inform plant managements for the planned trainings. (Ex. Control of Exothermic reactions)
• Participate necessary projects which needs Process Safety Specialist, (L-R) (described in G-R PRS 002M) take active role and lead if needed SHE Reviews Step 0-1-2-3- 4.
• Follow up process safety scorecard KPIs in the area by data gathering from plants and consolidate the data.
• Support sites to create necessary Explosion Protection documents.
• Support plant managements to fulfill the required process safety documents (G-GD PRS 040) Start by gap analysis then identifying the responsible persons and due dates. In case of support, find specific experienced contacts for special documentations to support the plant management teams to fulfill the necessary documentation.
• Support Sustainable Solutions: Analytical thinking to e.g. after a Process Safety incident to recognize the real root causes and to act in way not to let such an incident happen again, including the information of all other sites in the area and other BASF plants about the Lessons Learned.
• Support and lead the process safety related parts of the special projectsEg. ‘’Keep In The Pipe’’ project implementation to the sites to decrease the PSI rates of the plants. Actively support the plant management teams and lead risk analysis stages of the project.
• Act as the face of the responsible area on European Expert Group of Process Safety (EuEGPS) and be the contact person in this group on related area. Participate planned meetings and represent the area.
• Keep all plant management teams updated in case of a change on standards for ‘’Process Safety in BASF’’ and support the plant management for the compliance on these changes.
• Support the plants to prepare specific process safety based projects like SEVESO II.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or environmental engineering, or other related fields,
• In depth knowledge of legislation in environmental health and safety systems, industrial safety,
• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience,
• Experience in chemical plants and process safety topic
• Experience with environmental health and safety management systems
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse groups in a large organization,
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Excellent spoken and written in English
