Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering disciplines, Master's or PhD is an asset
• 5+ years of experience on development of HV battery system 
• Strong technical understanding of battery systems and technologies
• Multi-discipline (mechanical, electrical, electronics, software) technical knowledge of HV battery pack and BMS components. 
• Experience with relevant automotive product development processes including BMS hardware and software development
• Able to provide technical guidance to team members on what, why, and how
• Experience of leading a high-performance engineering team
• Good English skills (spoken and written)
• A highly motivated self-starter and team-player with very good communication skills

Job Description

As a Battery Systems Lead Engineer in the Electrification Department of FEV Turkey, you will be part of a highly skilled team driven to design and engineer best-in-class battery systems and battery management systems (BMS) for hybrid and full electric powertrains. You will work in a collaborative team environment. You will be contributing to build advanced solutions for battery management system hardware and software, battery E/E architecture and battery mechanical design and simulations as well as their implementation for application to hybrid and electric vehicles.

The technical areas of Electrification Department includes hybrid and electric powertrain and their sub-systems, e.g. battery system, battery management system, vehicle control system, electric motor and drive system, power electronics, powertrain E/E and fuel-cell systems.

Your Tasks

• Technical guidance, leadership and motivation of battery system engineering team
• Build and maintain technical competency in the engineering team, determining open skills/engineering capacity gaps and finding solutions
• Working in a multidisciplinary team, develop and deliver best-in-class battery system and battery management system (BMS) for hybrid and full electric powertrains
• Develop product development plan, milestones, budgets, and scheduling
• Develop design verification test plans, safety and standards compliance test plans
• Lead specification of battery pack and BMS requirements including performance, mechanical and structural characteristics, thermal management, electrical architecture, electrical/mechanical interfaces, hardware and software
• Lead battery cell/module selection and battery management system architecture and development
• Lead advanced BMS design and algorithms development
• Specify infrastructure requirements according to product roadmap and advise in investment or outsource test activities
• Connect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends in industry, also monitoring market and competitors’ product portfolio
• Develop roadmaps for future projects and products to continuously advance FEV battery system and BMS product performances
• Technical liaison with cell, module, battery, BMS system and component suppliers
• Supplier management when and where necessary
• Collaborate closely with other FEV locations and universities
