Short Description

We are currently seeking a Fixed-Term (Temporary) Senior General Ledger and Tax Accountant  to be based at our factory in the Gaziemir Free Zone. This is an 11-month fixed-term position to cover a maternity leave. 

This position; accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions, timely reporting of financial results and assist the GL Team / Accounting Manager / Finance Director in Accounting and Taxation matters, Financial analysis, statutory reporting in Turkey amongst other things include for all our Turkey entities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing all Turkish tax compliance processes, including monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings.
• Posting payroll accounting entries to the ledgers.
• Coordinating the preparation and submission of tax declarations, including VAT, withholding tax, corporate tax and other applicable taxes.
• Reviewing all e-Tax Returns prepared by EY and ensuring that all tax declarations are submitted accurately and on time.
• Completing all necessary accounting entries related to tax and payroll accounts in both US GAAP and local GAAP ledgers.
• Managing e-Ledger processes, including preparation, submission and follow-up with the relevant authorities.
• Monitoring tax deadlines and ensuring timely completion and payment of all statutory tax obligations.
• Following up on tax authority communications, requests, notifications and inspections, including two currently open and critical tax inspections.
• Preparing and providing supporting documentation for tax audits and tax authority requests.
• Coordinating with external advisors and auditors on tax compliance and related matters.
• Monitoring changes in Turkish tax legislation and assessing their potential impact on the company.
• Ensuring compliance with Turkish tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Performing tax-related accounting reconciliations and investigating and resolving discrepancies when necessary in the scope of SOX controls and local GAAP audits.
• Maintaining proper documentation and records related to tax filings, e-Ledger and other statutory processes.
• Supporting year-end and period-end tax-related activities, including tax provisions and reconciliations.

• Performs complex professional accounting duties
• Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams; works within broad guidelines and policies
• Verbally communicate accounting procedures and policies to staff and others;
• Write memos and reports clearly and concisely;
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Supervisory Responsibilities

• None
• Acts as a resource for other team members; may lead projects with limited risks and resource requirements

Requirements and Preferred Skills

• 5-7 years of experience as a Tax Accountant or in the Big 4 firms with Tax background
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting ect. 
• Big 4 Audit or industry experience
• Strong technical U.S. GAAP accounting knowledge and SOX compliance experience
• Knowledge of internal controls
• Have an experience of Turkish accounting principles, international reporting standards (IFRS reporting).
• Requires tax expertise as well as a good knowledge of accounting principles
• Knowledge of SAP and MS Office 
• Require a good communication skill both oral and in writting English and Turkish
