Role Summary/Purpose:

The Engineering Leader, supervises, coordinates design teams in his/her field of activities. Assists lead engineers at project launching phase, control engineering process follow up, ensures the proper management of interfaces with our partners and main suppliers. He (or She) is accountable for the proper allocation of resources required to execute the projects, looks for design subcontractors to adapt resources to the workload plan and optimize design budget ($$). 

Essential Responsibilities:

Scope of work, time schedule, •Consulted on design task list at project launch •Review of general time schedule and assignment of resources to start engineering •Check that all required engineering tools are available to execute the project for relevant activities 

Resources •Accountable for design budget on ongoing projects •One monthly basis allocates design resources to execute all ongoing projects. •Manage design workload plan for his/her team and proposes resource arbitration Team management •Lead & coordinate design teams •Animate regular internal team meetings •Hold performance development meetings with his/her team members and propose development plan •Perform skills mapping for his/her team Engineering process control •Ensure consistency of process and tools used on all projects •Detect any malfunctioning during different engineering phases and implement corrective actions •Ensures planning and realization on time of design reviews, and conduct discipline basic design /gate reviews Project strategy & risk management •Support PEM(s) in design strategy definition •Support team to manage scope or design changes (data for claims, VO..) •Ensure implementation of GS Engineering Management Handbook(EMH) guidelines •Identify and consolidate technical risks & opportunities and the corresponding mitigation/ action plan •Validating the result of design reviews and technical risks assessment for the involved discipline Customer knowledge •Consulted to understand customer requirement and check that proposed solutions are coherent with solution proposed in the same geographical area, with similar constraints •Consulted about answers to be done to customer technical request.

Design expediting •Consult on basic design phase •Support to ensure technical consistency of design area and associated performance level •Accountable for the compliance to the ‘state of the art’ and applicable standard and regulation in his field of activity.

•Accountable on completeness of subcontracting files (Scope, Deliverable, Inputs, Schedule) in his/her discipline Process & Tools •Deploy GRID Engineering tools associated to his/her discipline (EMH, CAD, PDM/DMS etc) •Integrate EHS requirements in engineering process and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases •Consolidate engineering KPI’s for the team and propose annual improvement plan •Active use of Electrical Design Calculation Software: ETAP, CymGRD, CymCAP Interface with Procurement, Supplier/Partner management •Support Sourcing and Procurement in the definition of the Supplier’s list according to the project strategy •For his/her discipline, consulted for the technical evaluation of offers from suppliers •Involved in subcontracting strategy for design works & support sourcing for design subcontractor audits •Follows Design Subcontractor competences and workloads on regular basis •Verify the quality of services provided on projects and competitiveness of offers received from design subcontractors Quality •Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes defined at Unit, project level, and in EMH •Report or resolve any non-conformance and process in a timely manner Health and Safety •Deploy design freeze and EHS in design •Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team •Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention. •Actively participates in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed. •Routinely observes routines and behaviors of others and provides immediate feedback regarding unsafe behavior and celebrates achievements or safe behaviors.

Qualifications/Requirements:

•Graduate of Electrical (and Electronics) Engineering (M.Sc. Degree is an asset) •Minimum 2 years’ experience of significant team management •Minimum 5 years of Engineering activities in the environment for T&D, Power Gen or Oil & Gas industry. •Successful experience in project technical management of the discipline in a multi-disciplinary team’s context including multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries •Fluent in English
