Vacancy: Marine Instructor and Coach

BlackSea Training (BST) provides standard, advanced, and customized maritime training courses locally or in virtual classrooms. Being a partner of international crewing and ship management companies, our aim is to constantly develop the professional and personal skills of officers and crew. With that, we support our customers’ high demands on safe vessel operations and reducing OPEX.

We are looking for a trainer to join our training centre in Istanbul at the earliest possible date. You will be responsible to conduct marine training courses in accordance with our training plan. Furthermore, you will evaluate our participants’ professional knowledge and skills.

As the ideal candidate you will be a well-organized, confident public speaker and a motivating educator and motivating instructor who is up to date with the best management practices of safe vessel operations. With your knowledge, skills, and attitude you will promote and enhance positive teaching culture and make an important contribution to the excellent performance and reputation of our training centre.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaching of classroom and virtual classes for officers and crew in following areas: safety, security, sustainability subjects, navigation, watchkeeping, risk management, resource management as well as leadership and teamworking skills
• Development of new training courses/plans and training materials
• Review and update training courses/plans and training materials
• Evaluation of participants’ performance
• Identification of additional training needs

Requirements and Qualifications

• Senior Deck Officer - STCW II/2
• Two (2) years’ net sea-service as Master or Chief Mate on ocean-going vessels
• Thorough knowledge and familiarity with all shipboard systems and equipment
• Knowledge of and experience with Integrated Management Systems
• Very good interpersonal, communication and intercultural skills with all levels of hierarchy
• Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in live and virtual classroom teaching
• Experience with training of cadets onboard
• Very good verbal and written English communication skills
• Ability to analyse problems and develop optimum solutions
