Backend Engineer

We’re looking for great Back- End Engineers ready to take on some serious hacking.

We’re looking for fun-loving code animals with experience building and maintaining web applications, using the technologies outlined below to work at our platform.

About the job:

Design and develop new features and functionality in our Rails application

Be able and excited to extend past the Rails, into the guts of the application.

Share application support duties through the beta phase and into commercialization

Use your critical thinking skills to innovate and solve problems

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have most of the following:

• Industry experience as a software engineer
• Initial knowledge of Agile processes
• Initial knowledge of Ruby on Rails
• Experience writing SQL
• Some experience writing Javascript and AJAX
• Good development skills in a UNIX environment and familiarity with UNIX command line
• Knowledge of at least one source control system
• Ability to think outside the box and make decisions based on the problem space
• Ability to quickly write clean, well-organized code in any language
• A strong attention to detail and a feeling of pride and ownership over the quality of our product
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A passion and desire to work at a company trying to change an industry

The most important requirements are that you’re friendly and you possess excellent communication skills. You should be more interested in figuring things out and getting things done than in getting your way.
