SCOPE OF WORK

The Cultural Orientation (CO) Trainer is primarily responsible for preparing approved refugees for resettlement to the United States through learner-centered instruction. The position is responsible for implementing curriculum developed by RSC TuME aligning with the CO Objectives and Indicators guidelines, including those developed by the Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange (CORE), as well as assisting with the development and maintenance of curriculum materials as needed. The CO Trainer works closely with the RSC TuME CO team, interpreters and childcare attendants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Conduct  multiple CO training sessions each week for refugee adults, youth, children, groups with special needs and/or sensitivities in RSC TuME locations, including virtual and telephonic sessions

2.       Maintain a current understanding of the overall US Refugee Admissions Program and the resettlement issues related to CO, adhering to all PRM, RPC, ICMC and RSC TuME policies, guidelines, and procedures

3.       Writes mission reports upon return from CO mission in collaboration with other mission team members for submission to CO supervisory team and Head of Unit

4.       Implement, provide feedback and communicate ideas for updates and improvements the established CO curriculum

5.       Develop and review orientation resources, such as lesson plans and language/cultural appropriate orientation aids for participants, as necessary.

6.       Support training and monitoring of contracted staff (interpreters and childcare providers) as required

7.       Support logistical arrangements and the upkeep of CO facilities as the need arises

8.       Assist with the accurate maintenance of START (a State Department – managed system that supports the arrival and resettlement of refugees through technology) database records including CO scheduling, attendance records, post-CO data entry and perform quality control checks regularly ensuring data accuracy

1.       Performs other work-related duties which may be assigned by the CO Supervisory team and/or the Head of Unit to enhance the efficiency and efficacy of the CO program

REQUIREMENTS

• ·    University degree preferred; OR equivalent to 2 years of meaningful professional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified will be considered
•      Experience teaching/training adults, children, youth (in a refugee context is advantageous)
•      Experience teaching/training virtually (in a refugee context is advantageous)
•      Professional work experience in refugee resettlement processing or community development, desirable
•      Excellent spoken and written English, other languages such as Arabic, Dari, and Farsi desirable
•      Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, e-mail, and virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Quizziz and/or Skype
•      Proficiency in online survey and forms tool/applications such as SurveyMonkey, desirable
•      Must hold Turkish Republic citizenship
•      Conduct work with the highest level of personal and professional integrity. Must comply with and actively promote ICMC's zero tolerance policy with regard to sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, abuse of power, fraud and corruption in all of its activities and responsibilities.
