Import Specialist

Bachelor’s degree in related field (Supply Chain, Operations, or Logistics) or equivalent business experience with five or more years’ experience in the area of Logistics/Transportation/Distribution experience; specifically, in import and freight forwarding.

Highly self-motivated individual focused and driven to provide customer service and continuous improvement.

Must be able to handle multiple priorities and with the ability to work autonomously with a level of ambiguity.

Must possess solid judgment and high level of ethical standards.

Strong understanding of Incoterms.

Technical knowledge of import/ export, customs, warehousing, and logistics

Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to maintain company service goals and objectives to meet customer orders on time.

Strong communication and follow-up skills working with 3PL freight forwarder, customs, CSR’s, Credit, Customer’s, and Plant Logistics departments to meet shipping deadlines.

Understanding of quality management principles

Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills, project management skills, as well as leadership capabilities.

Manage and support Import and customs activities ensuring timely delivery and consolation activities

Understanding of standard documents necessary to execute import transactions (i.e., commercial invoices, packing list, etc.)

Perform transaction audits on exports and imports; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile, or protest as appropriate.

Ability to read, understand, and interpret government trade compliance regulations.

Coordinate audits of KP’s customs brokers as well as internal processes.

Ability to effectively communicate with other departments as well as multiple functional areas

Manage business unit projects that increase compliance, improve customer satisfaction, and/or improve operational efficiency, and drive savings.

Report metrics and manage KPI’s associated with import activity.

Ability to effectively work with people from other countries and cultures, specifically across Europe and Asia.

Supports sites with tools and processes to optimize import activities.

Participate in/lead projects to improve service to customers, operational efficiency, and reduce/control costs.

Identify problems, recommend, and execute creative/innovative solutions.
