Data Management and Analytics Manager

The Data Management and Analytics Lead/Manager position will be responsible for defining and implementing the strategy and roadmap of Koç University's data management and analytics activities/products while leading a team of data analysts. Hands-on with data mining, analysis, and reporting is essential.

 

Data Management

• Document Data Governance policies, standards, procedures, and requirements
• Define and execute the Data Management strategy and roadmap
• Data governance and stewardship support include data quality, lineage, and change management.
• Implement Data Quality programs to improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data required for decision-making across the organization.
• Collaborate with Data Owners to Identify data quality issues and opportunities to improve data usage.
• Partner with Data Stewards on processes and success metrics and lead working groups and associated projects
• Conduct data governance audits and certifications for multiple departments, segments, and data domains to determine data maturity within the institution

Assists in developing a communication strategy for data governance, including education, issue awareness, data quality successes, regulatory updates, and policy.

Data Analytics

• Champion Koç University's data-driven culture. Serve as a thought leader and mentor on business domain and analytical techniques.
• Provide leadership for analytic efforts, including building reports, dashboards, building ML models, complex studies, simulations, testing, etc., to solve unique problems or questions.
• Define and execute Data Analytics strategy and roadmap
• Oversee the data/report request process: tracking requests submitted, prioritization, approval, etc.
• Dive deep into data to proactively identify trends, behaviors, and opportunities to provide actionable insights and identify new opportunities.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of current stakeholders' strategic needs across digital platforms. You'll use your analytical expertise to help determine priorities and areas of focus.
• Define the data and analytics features and roadmap of home-grown digital platforms. Work with the engineering team to implement these features following agile methodologies.
• Own the data-related applications and IT services
  
  Requirements
• Bachelor or higher degree in computer or data science, mathematics, information management, management science, or a related field
• Data practitioner with experience in data product management, data analysis, data curation and data governance
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience working in a data management or equivalent role (Data Management / Data Governance or BI / Analytics team) with a focus on driving complex, data-driven projects.
• Professional experience in managing a team
• Experience in business, data collection, data management, or analytics
• Understand best practices required to create Data Governance and Data Management solutions across an organization
• Experience in implementing data catalogs according to data governance policies
• Understanding of data management concepts and associated business processes, specifically Data Governance, Master Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Quality
• Experience with various data management tools such as MDM, catalog, and data quality.
• Experience with large datasets, data pipelines, and ETL tools– big data experience.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with colleagues and taking a business-oriented approach while identifying and balancing risks and providing concise, accurate advice
• Willingness to engage with partners and users to understand data management requirements
• Experience with programming languages (SQL, R, Python, etc.)
• Experience using data visualization reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to identify areas where data and analytics can add value to the business and translate business problems into solution-driven actions
• Ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations through easy-to-digest reports and presentations
• Ability to effectively partner across all levels and manage multiple projects with high standards
• Candidates with skills in data science (regression, clustering, forecasting, design of experiments) are a plus.
• Prior experience in an academic/research environment preferred
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Flexibility in work schedule as needed
