Buffet Attendant – Ship Based Job

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a world class Buffet Attendant to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Buffet Attendant is to provide a safe, friendly and quick and professional food service for Guests at one of the outdoor buffets on vessels of the MSC fleet under the supervision of the Buffet Supervisor


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To provide first class food service at the outdoor (lido or poolside) buffet areas.
  • To set up of the buffet, to prepare the cutlery in rolled napkins, to operate the beverage station (indoor or outdoor) and to clear tables used by Guests.
  • To act like the assistant waiter or even as the waiter on some occasions, if a full restaurant service is made at the Buffet area
  • To clean the buffet areas before, during and after service.
  • To welcome Guests each meal times at the entrance to the buffet, and to say farewell to them when leaving.
  • To clean and to sanitize the general buffet working area and to set up for the next shift at the end of each shift.
  • To use the appropriate checklist to make sure that everything in that section is clean and prepared according to company sanitation standards at the end of each shift.
  • To attend meetings and training sessions when required by your Buffet supervisor.
  • To report to your Buffet Supervisor any problems involving Guests.
  • To comply with Company sanitation food safety and sanitation standards at all times.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluent English, oral and written.
  • Any additional European language is considered an advantage.
  • Proven 5-star hotel or restaurant service (including Job Training) or one completed contract in this or a similar F&B position (including Messrooms or room service) on a Cruise vessel.
  • A good and demonstrated working knowledge of the operation of a fast-turnover, high-class restaurant or cafeteria.
  • A good knowledge of basic Company sanitation regulations and requirements.
  • Good communication skills to let you communicate easily with all Guests.
  • The ability to replace an assistant waiter in times of need.
  • Ability to work in harmony with colleague buffet attendants from many different backgrounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 Kg.
  • Friendly, honest and clear communications with Guests.
  • Proven ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment.
  • Food Safety Proficiency certificate issued by recognized Authority (HACCP)
  • STCW95 certification is compulsory before on boarding (Basic fire fighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security and social responsibility).
  • A recognized medical certification is required before starting to work on board.
  • Possess a valid passport and when possible a seaman book copy.

High School(Graduate), Associate Degree(Graduate), Bachelor’s(Graduate)
