HSE Specialist

Being an international contractor with diversified interests and operations spread to 4 continents and 11 countries since 1989, Summa is looking for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Specialist in Senegal.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or relevant fields,
• Minimum 10 years work experience in related positions,
• Class A Occupational Safety Expert Certificate; Environmental Officer Certificate is a plus,
• NEBOSH International General Certificate holder,
• Experienced in HSE training; ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management Systems (Preferably Lead Auditor of One Systems),
• Proficiency in MS Office applications,
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; French is a Plus,
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration,
• Ability to travel, including Africa and potentially other countries, as needed for project assessments and meetings,
• Strong communication skills,
• Creative and effective presentation skills,
• Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays in response to the needs of the business.
  
  

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Understand the ISO, OHSAS, ILO, IEC, IFC, etc. that will be applied to our processes and identify applicable HSE local legislation to Summa,
• Ensure the continuity and development of ISO 45001 Safety & ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems,
• Give support to the different areas that make up the organization, in the incorporation of HSE standards in the design of work processes, such as; work instructions, procedures, guidelines, and general formats, among others as well as guide their correct implementation,
• Ensure the HSE legal watch and compliance with the national, and company HSE requirements,
• Organize, coordinate, and train employees on Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Environment, and Security topics. Also, provide HSE induction to new hires,
• Lead and follow up regular HSE meetings of the site,
• Carry out internal audits in related areas of the organization, to evaluate and monitor compliance with Summa's HSE standards and international standards when applicable,
• Monitor, review, and report leading and lagging KPI’s related annual targets,
• Carry out or supervise the execution of audits on third parties (suppliers identified as critical for the operation and performance of our services) to verify compliance with the Environmental Agreements, and Safety Agreements, among other agreements defined between Summa and the suppliers,
• Responsible for assisting all brands of our business as an internal consultant providing enabling business support roles,
• Ensure that all HSE-related incidents and events are reported and investigated through detailed root cause analysis and that corrective actions are planned and implemented,
• Implementing Emergency Response Plans and conducting site safety, environment, and security drills,
• Develop and implement the Occupational H&S Risk assessment and the Environmental Impact Analysis.
