The British Consulate-General Istanbul is seeking an Office Manager to join its UK Visas & Immigration team. The successful applicant will need to be a team player with excellent organisational and management skills. They will need excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
This is a permanent full time contract. The position includes an initial probationary period of 2 months.
 Essential skills and attributes required:
 
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Excellent English language skills, written and verbal
Excellent computer & IT skills
Excellent team working, leadership and communication skills
Experience in working in large and complex environments
Ability to work under minimum supervision and tight deadlines
Proven problem solving skills and sound judgement

The British Consulate General Istanbul is seeking a temporary Press and Public Affairs Officer. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months to cover the maternity leave of an existing member of staff. The successful applicant must be available to take up the position quickly. This is a wide-ranging role, in a busy section. Flexibility, a positive outlook to change and adaptability are all qualities that will be needed by the jobholder.
 
 
Skills and Attributes Required
• Strong English and Turkish written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience of working with the media and a strong network of contacts in Turkish media.
• Exceptional writing, copyediting and proofreading skills both in English and Turkish, with the ability to make complex information accessible and write for a variety of different purposes (including press releases, political reports, texts for social media, etc.)
• Proven experience in IT Systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong track record of utilising social media platforms.
• Excellent time and priority management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage a complex and varied workload.
• Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with, motivate and advise others.
• Experience of supporting colleagues with communications activities, either through training or assisting with particular projects.
• Ability to think creatively, use initiative and be flexible to adapt to changing priorities.
• Professional manner in dealing with internal and external customers.
• Open and flexible approach to new ideas and changing conditions.

You will develop your prioritisation skills quickly within the job and be able to manage your own workload independently.

You must be able to work on several projects at once for a range of stakeholders with different needs and deliver results for different customers. Take responsibility for delivering expected outcomes on time and to standard, giving credit to teams and individuals as appropriate

You will need to show you can work in different, virtual teams simultaneously, whilst also being able to work independently. Establishing and maintaining contact with a wide range of colleagues and contacts (Media, opinion leaders, NGOs, academics and policy makers) proactively especially in Turkey is essential. Time to time travel across Turkey and Europe is a part of the job.
