Laboratory Technician

Koç University School of Medicine will be hiring a “Laboratory Technician” with the following qualifications: 

• Bachelor or Master's degree in related fields ( molecular biology, etc.)
• Preferably two years experience in lab (outside of coursework) and familiarity with sterile technique, cloning and PCR.
• Excellent planning, organizing, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in Turkish and in English, with faculty, students, staff, and all levels of administration
• Professional use of Microsoft applications (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
• No military obligation for male candidates 

İŞ TANIMI

Our lab (scl.ku.edu.tr) studies the molecular mechanisms of cellular reprogramming. We want to understand how somatic cells such as skin fibroblasts can be converted into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC). Our focus is on identifying the role of chromatin modifying proteins in this process. We are also working on generating iPSCs from patients with rare genetic diseases for in vitro disease modeling and genome editing.

The successful candidate will oversee ordering laboratory supplies,  maintain inventory, perform molecular cloning, gain experience in stem cell culture and characterization. In addition,  there are also numerous opportunities for independent research.
