Director of Sales – Events & Catering

Director of Sales – Events & Catering is responsible leading and organizing an effective Events & Catering Sales team including recruitment, training, coaching and supervision in compliance with the Kempinski standards.

ÇıraÄŸan Palace Kempinski Istanbul is the only Ottoman Imperial Palace hotel on the Bosphorus. Our hotel offers a resort ambience in the city and reflects the ultimate luxury of a genuine Ottoman Palace. With a total of 313 rooms, including 282 rooms and 20 suites in the main hotel section and 11 suites in the imperial palace section, the hotel’s restaurant & bars offer a blissful culinary experience. ÇıraÄŸan Palace Kempinski Istanbul is regarded as the city’s most distinguished high-profile meetings and conferences for private companies, extravagant weddings & social events that create memories to remember for a life-time experience. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for revenue generation from received leads in the events & catering sales field.
  • Responsible for development, improvement and active conversion of an effective event & catering sales strategy.
  • Reach the monthly and yearly revenue goals.
  • Set action plans and regularly review goals for the events & catering sales team.
  • Set quarterly one on one meetings for performance review and to build strong communication with each individual of the team.
  • Leadership, training, development, coaching and support of the events & catering sales team.
  • Implementation of regular departmental meetings to ensure inter-departmental communication.
  • Secure a proper communication of all events & catering sales details to the Sales Managers and Events Coordinators. 
  • Monitor the Opera S&C system and ensure the system is set up properly to guarantee internal efficiency, customer satisfaction, hence maximizing revenue performance.
  • Review F&B menus, meeting services etc. and the according pricing structure for the event area in conjunction with the Director of F&B & the Executive Chef.
  • Direct receipt, qualification and coordination of events & catering sales requests (incl. leads, RFPs, etc.) defined by the Senior Director of Sales. Handle requests according to the relevant standards within a maximum of 8 (business) hours of its receipt.
  • Manage and develop strategies for outside catering sub-segment.
  • Carry out site inspections with potential MICE clients in coordination with the Sales department.
  • Thoroughly input, supervise and maintain the requests in the Opera S&C System according to the data input standards.
  • Direct generating proper proposals and contracts.
  • Build strategies and lead capturing business for destination wedding sub-segment.
  • Manage following up on sent out proposals within 24 hours (1 working day) to ensure the client has received the information and to clarify possible questions and issues.
  • Ensure a proper handover of the converted business to the Sales Manager and Events Coordinator with all relevant information forwarded.
  • Introduction of the Sales Manager and Events Coordinator to the client.
  • Carry out exit interviews with the customer after their event – asking for future business.
  • Review monthly results and forecasts to recommend and execute activities required to ensure the hotel increases the market share and maximizes its revenue.
  • Further administrative tasks and other possible assigned duties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned to him/her by the management.

 

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in 5 Star luxury hotel properties. (Preferably international hotels)
  • Fluency in English and Turkish
  • MS Office program and presentation skills (technically and verbally)
  • Sensitivity for design & style
