About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and resilient Senior Project Engineer to oversee the renovation, piping/electrical infrastructure upgrade, and machinery installation for a cylinder manufacturing and refurbishment facility in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The successful candidate will act as the key on-site technical authority, bridging the gap between international engineering designs and local execution. You will ensure that all piping networks, Ex-proof electrical infrastructures, and automated mechanical stationsre installed safely, on schedule, and in strict compliance with international standards
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Piping Oversight: Supervise the installation of industrial piping networks for LPG, compressed air, and water utility lines, ensuring compliance with P&ID drawings and pressure safety codes.
Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Management: Oversee LV/MV electrical distribution, cable routing, and control panel installations. Ensure strict adherence to hazardous area classifications (ATEX / Ex-proof Zone regulations).
Machinery Installation & Commissioning: Coordinate the mechanical positioning, leveling, and integration of specialized LPG refurbishment machinery (degassing units, dedenting stations, cutting, and welding systems).
Subcontractor & Site Supervision: Manage local and international subcontractors, validating their workmanship, QA/QC checklists, and adherence to timeframes.
Compliance & Certification: Work closely with third-party inspection bodies (Bureau Veritas) to ensure all installations meet regulatory approvals and safety audits.
Reporting & Collaboration: Provide regular technical progress reports to the central project management team and participate in periodic design reviews and remote alignment meetings.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in project engineering, ideally withinLPG plants, oil & gas downstream facilities, or heavy chemical/industrial processing plants.
Technical Expertise:
Strong background in industrial piping systems, hydraulics, and pneumatic networks.
Solid understanding of electrical layouts, power distribution, and instrumentation in hazardous environments (Ex-proof/ATEX standards).
Familiarity with brownfield site challenges (renovating existing structures and merging new machinery with old infrastructure).
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Professional proficiency or working knowledge of French is highly preferred to effectively manage local teams and local authorities in Abidjan.
Soft Skills: Strong crisis management skills, autonomy on-site, and a strict commitment to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols.
