Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration Specialist

International Infrastructure & Construction Project

We are seeking an experienced Resettlement and Livelihood Restoration Specialist to lead project-related land acquisition, displacement and livelihood restoration activities on a major international infrastructure project. This is a specialist role with direct accountability for one of the project's highest-profile social workstreams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement and monitor resettlement and livelihood restoration plans.

• Coordinate land acquisition and expropriation activities with relevant authorities, project teams and specialist advisers.

• Review household surveys, asset inventories and information on affected land users and livelihoods.

• Monitor compensation and assistance commitments against approved plans and entitlement arrangements.

• Assess physical and economic displacement impacts and identify households requiring additional support.

• Coordinate consultations with affected people and ensure that commitments are clearly documented.

• Support the resolution of grievances concerning land access, compensation, displacement and livelihoods.

• Track delivery and outcomes of livelihood restoration measures and recommend adjustments where needed.

• Maintain accurate records and prepare progress reports for project management and relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Law, Urban Planning, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years directly related to resettlement, land acquisition and expropriation.

• Strong knowledge of physical and economic displacement and livelihood restoration processes.

• Experience implementing resettlement plans on infrastructure or construction projects.

• Familiarity with applicable land acquisition legislation and relevant international lender requirements.

• Ability to review socioeconomic data and monitor household-level commitments and outcomes.

• Strong consultation, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.

• Good written and spoken English, including preparation of detailed progress reports.

• Experience working with international teams and affected communities would be advantageous.

• A careful, confidential and culturally sensitive approach to personal and household information.
