Microbiology Analyst

• Follow the laboratory's procedure for specimen handling, processing and interprets all types of routine microbiology cultures, parasitology procedures.

• Process and report the proficiency testing samples that are sent by CAP in the same manner as patient samples ensuring the guidelines are adhered accordingly.

• Allocates jobs / responsibilities appropriately to the Department's staff and ensures they fully understand these responsibilities.

• Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies; documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and reports maintenance performed within the section.

• Establishment or verification of laboratory test performance through second check in terms all culture reporting.

• Resolve technical issues, when possible, ensure that remedial actions are taken in accordance to set protocol.

• Ensure that patient results reported accordingly to set SOPs and critical results are only reported in consultation with the Medical Director or Quality Assurance Section/Laboratory Supervisor and panic values are promptly reported to the concerned physicians.

• Ensure most effective TAT is adhered to as promised in the patient invoice

• Implement the company's Laboratory established policies related to safety, dress code, cleanliness, infection control, waste management and exposure control plan as per the company's Laboratory PP Manuals

• Maintains the highest level of integrity, professionalism and patient confidentiality at all times

• Implement all existing / new policies related to CAP and in compliance with local Ministry of Health regulations

• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the laboratory

• Inspects and monitors work in progress to ensure that standard operating procedures and safety precautions are followed and junior technicians are not deviating from established SOPs

• Maintains established procedures for the retention of specimen and patient records.

• Ensure to participate in monthly departmental meetings

• Perform other tasks that might be assigned by the operations manager

• Fluency in written and oral English

• Any other language that might be an advantage

• Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, equipment and techniques of medical technology especially in the field of parasitology and general medical microbiology

• Knowledge of safety rules, reviewing and writing SOPs

• Ability to effectively communicate with all related parties in the laboratory and patient services department
