Senior Quality Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our Quality organization at our aerospace composite manufacturing facility, one of the key structural parts suppliers to Airbus and for other customers.

 The Senior Quality Engineer will take an active and independent role in new product introduction (NPI) and serial production quality activities, working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Production and other cross-functional teams.

The position will report directly to the Head of Quality and will act as the key Quality representative for assigned projects and products throughout the product lifecycle.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline,
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Quality preferably within the aerospace and/or composite manufacturing industry,
• Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements;
• Knowledge and practical experience in AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and preparation/review of FAI documentation,
• Knowledge and practical experience in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) methodologies, experience in project quality planning and preparation of quality deliverables.
• Good understanding of composite manufacturing processes and associated quality requirements is highly preferred,
• Experience with dimensional inspection and 3D measurement systems, preferably FARO 3D measurement equipment,
• Ability to evaluate dimensional inspection results and measurement reports against engineering drawings, tolerances and GD&T requirements,
• Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), 8D, 5 Why and problem-solving methodologies,
• Experience in nonconformity management, containment actions and follow-up of corrective and preventive actions,
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, standards and customer requirements,
• Experience with customer and third-party audits,
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills,
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and manage multiple quality priorities,
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with Project Management, Engineering and Production teams,
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German is an asset,
• Good command of MS Office applications,
• KPI and result-oriented working approach,

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the Quality focal point for assigned projects and products, from new product introduction through serial production,
• Work closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams during new project launches, product transfers and industrialization activities,
• Represent Quality in project meetings, technical reviews, production readiness reviews and product/process qualification activities,
• Lead Quality activities during New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure timely completion of project Quality deliverables,
• Apply APQP principles throughout new product and process introduction, including quality planning, risk assessment, process readiness and product validation,
• Coordinate and support PPAP activities and documentation where applicable according to customer and project requirements,
• Plan, coordinate and follow up First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 and applicable customer requirements,
• Prepare, review and maintain FAI documentation and related Quality records and coordinate customer approval activities where applicable,
• Review customer specifications, engineering drawings and technical requirements to ensure their effective implementation within manufacturing and inspection processes,
• Plan, perform and/or coordinate dimensional inspection activities using FARO 3D measurement systems and other applicable measurement equipment,
• Define and coordinate incoming inspection, in-process inspection and final inspection requirements,
• Support product and process qualification activities for composite manufacturing processes,
• Lead and coordinate nonconformity investigations, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action activities, ensuring effective and sustainable implementation of corrective actions,
• Support and challenge cross-functional teams in resolving Quality issues affecting product conformity, process capability and customer requirements,
• Monitor product and process Quality performance, analyze trends and report relevant Quality KPIs to Quality Management,
• Identify Quality risks during project and serial production phases and ensure appropriate preventive actions are implemented,
• Conduct and support customer, 3rd party and internal audits, represent the Quality function during customer, certification and third-party audits,
• Coordinate Quality-related communication with internal stakeholders and customers for assigned projects,
• Drive continuous improvement activities to improve product quality, process robustness and overall Quality performance,
• Escalate significant product, process and compliance risks directly to the Head of Quality and ensure timely follow-up of required actions.
