Fiber Optic Engineer

At our İzmir facility we are looking for Fiber Optic Engineers to strengthen our production engineering team.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Physics, Electrical & Electronics, Optical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering preferred),
• 2-3 years of hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in fiber optics, photonics, optical components or a comparable high-precision industry,
• Working knowledge of fiber optic fundamentals such as cleaving, splicing, connectorisation, polishing, epoxy and curing processes and optical alignment,
• Familiar with optical test and measurement methods and equipment (insertion loss, return loss, PDL, extinction ratio, OTDR, optical power meters),
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, datasheets and customer specifications,
• Experienced in process improvement and problem-solving methodologies (root cause analysis, 8D, 5 Why, FMEA; Six Sigma or DOE is an asset),
• Knowledgeable in the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system,
• Good command of written and spoken English,
• Advanced user of MS Office applications; ERP experience is an asset,
• Analytical, detail-oriented and solution-focused,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to work in harmony with the team,
• No restriction on travelling abroad for business or training purposes,
• For male candidates, military service must be completed or deferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Provides day to day engineering support to fiber optic component and assembly production lines and ensures that processes run in line with defined specifications,
• Develops, documents and continuously improves manufacturing processes, process parameters and work instructions,
• Monitors yield, scrap and cycle-time data; carries out root cause analysis for process-related failures and implements corrective and preventive actions,
• Supports the transfer of new products and customer projects into production; prepares and validates process flows, fixtures and tooling,
• Works together with the Quality Assurance department to ensure that products meet customer specifications and ISO 9001:2015 requirements,
• Provides technical guidance and on-the-job training to production operators,
• Specifies, qualifies and maintains production and test equipment in coordination with the Maintenance and Electronics teams,
• Prepares periodic production and process performance reports and presents them to the Production Supervisor,
• Coordinates with the Engineering, Planning and Supply Chain departments regarding material, capacity and equipment requirements,
• Ensures full compliance with occupational health and safety rules within the production area.
