ABOUT IICEC
IICEC is an independent Center at Sabancı University that produces energy policy research and has convening power at the energy crossroad of the world.
Working with governments, partners from industry, international organizations, think-tanks and other research bodies, establishing a network of cooperation with other universities in the region and in the world; IICEC aims to inform policymakers, industry, academics and opinion leaders on key energy challenges and provide them with objective and genuine analysis. We foster the exchange and development of ideas by providing a distinguished platform gathering key stakeholders involved in energy and climate fields.
The decision to form the Istanbul International Centre for Energy and Climate was motivated by the growing role of Turkey in the international energy landscape and the strategic position of Istanbul, where Europe and Asia meet. The Center, at Sabancı University Karaköy Minerva Palace in Istanbul, is located at the crossroads of almost all current and emerging energy players, both on the producing and consuming sides of global energy markets. Utilizing this strategic position, IICEC will serve to fill the need for an international approach with international resources to the future of energy and climate topics, as a globally recognized networking center.

We are looking to recruit an Energy Modeler  who will work within the scope of Sabancı University Istanbul International Center for Energy and Climate (IICEC). The position is based Minerva Palace, Karaköy.

The successful candidates will have the relevant skills and experience specified below:

• PhD degree in a relevant field such as operations research, industrial engineering, economics or related disciplines
• Prior experience in developing linear or non-linear programs
• Very good skills in quantitative methods and optimization tools, preferably experiences in the application of energy modeling frameworks such as TIMES, LEAP, WASP, and OSeMOSYS 
• Prior experience in modeling of the transportation and power sectors is desirable
• Good understanding of techno-economic characteristics of power generation and mobility technologies
• Strong computer programming skills (especially Excel\VBA and Python) is a must
• Familiarity with data sources about the Turkish energy economy
• Peer-reviewed publications on energy topics
• 3 years of professional experience
• Excellent understanding and in-depth knowledge of the Turkish energy profile
• Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving with an appreciation of longer-term implications
• Willing and eager to do research and write about a variety of energy-related topics
• No military obligation for male candidates
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Strong analytical skills

İŞ TANIMI

• Develop and maintain energy models with:
  • detailed characterizations of energy technologies
  • economic competition among different energy technologies
  • responsiveness to government policies and other exogenous factors
• Conduct research regarding the Turkish energy outlook and policies
• Undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy policy trends at the global, regional and country level
• Conceptualize and implement robust studies, conducting analysis, and drafting high quality publications
• Analyze and create reports on local, regional, and international energy markets
• Review, synthesize, and analyze relevant policies
• Assist the Director in project managements and research grant proposals
• Coordinate closely with Sabancı University Faculties and IICEC Research Associates
