Lead Engineer

Align to company global and local standards for explosive product manufacturing facilities and mobile equipment to ensure production quality and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

•            Determine and optimize the equipment and facilities required for the manufacture and storage of explosive products, with a view to performance, reliability, safety, and technological added value, in line with the group's industrial strategy for the region

•            Plans and conduct audits of compliance with standards, defined technical specifications, and applicable regulations concerning explosive products and the equipment and facilities necessary for the manufacture and storage of these products.

•            Ensure Develop technical specifications for all company business development projects, including all technical specifications and technical aspects of responses to calls for tenders, supporting the project manager for these projects.

•            Verify and validate the technical and operational feasibility of any new development and installation projects.

•            When commissioning new installation or marketing any new explosive product of the group, verify and validate regulatory compliance in terms of permits, approvals, certificates, and authorizations required by applicable regulations.

•            Ensure engineering related documentation is made available using established document control processes.

•            Support in the development of project proposals, contracts, client project specifications and any other key documents.

•            Maintain a proper record on scope changes and negotiate with contractors corresponding changes in contract price.

•            Review and approve technical and commercial bid evaluations and attend negotiation meetings with potential sellers as required.

•            Implement/Review and approve the Construction Execution Plan, Pre/Commissioning Plan and Start up execution plan.

•            Establish and implement audit processes to ensure safe, efficient and quality project execution.

•            Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable Acts and Regulations

Management of Technical Engineering

•            Ensure adherence to global technical engineering standards while also adhering to regional and local regulatory requirements.

•            Provide technical engineering support in line with global and regional requirements for the delivery of strategic projects as well as operating assets operations.

•            Actively participate in global collaboration forums.

•            Create a high-performance engineering team for the company business, including functional management for the following areas:  Fixed plant, electrical instrumentation and control mobile equipment, process and technology, bulk explosives safety, engineering drawing services.

•            Deliver on organisational key performance metrics for engineering.

 Technical Consultancy

•            Provide technical support to the reliability team via:

a.          Ongoing development and improvement of equipment management strategies

b.          Review and endorse of risk treatment plans for material risk equipment, and:

c.           Review and endorsement of key project deliverables for material risk or business critical equipment.

•            Define processes for credible material risk events as part of the risk assurance and verifications, with all known material equipment related risks identified with effective and active treatment plans in place.

Technical  Standards Governance

•            Develop and maintain fit for purpose engineering practices (standards, specifications, etc)

•            Support sites in understanding, assessing, and closing gaps to standard practice conformance requirements.

•            Assume business ownership of selected software applications.

•            Control and optimise company standard equipment design offerings

•            Provide organisational governance and assurance reporting.

Team Management

•            Supervise the project team under your responsibility, by setting objectives, supervising and coordinating their actions, and monitoring the results obtained.

•            Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in workforce.

•            Ensure the needs of the business are matched to the skills deployed, with a constant focus on staff development.

•            Inspire and drive group dynamics, foster team spirit, encourage initiative and employee accountability, support change, and ensure the smooth flow of information up and down the chain of command within teams.

 Academic Level

Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent + 15 years’ experience in manufacturing, construction, oil and gas or similar industries with a minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role.

Expetise Areas :

Proficiency in English, and other languages preferred (Portuguese, Turkish, French, Spanish)

Proficiency in IT tools, eg SHAERS, Velocity EHS, SAP, CapIQ, PWA or any other CMMS

Risk analysis and continuous improvement

Technical: Familiarity with Engineering Design Office systems and processes

Technical: demonstrated experience within manufacturing and distribution of:

Emulsion manufacture

Explosive bulk product management

Initiating systems

Mobile processing units
