Mining Engineer

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mining engineer provides support to mining operations, helps create estimates for mining projects, manages government reporting, and takes lead on mine planning operations. 

The mining engineer will report the plant manager and work closely with other site management.  They will work independently with minimal supervision, but also function within a teamwork dynamic. They will work in a combination of office and field environments.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspects new and existing mining sites to determine the best ways to extract specific materials from the ground. This includes visiting sites in person and using maps and geological data to estimate material reserves.

• Manages documentation and permission process of the new mine areas or renewal of existing mine licenses.

• Evaluates ongoing mining operations, including writing reports regarding supplies, equipment, and mined materials.

• Plans reclamation of sites after reserves are exhausted.

• Designs mine locations that allow workers to safely mine materials from the ground.

• Follows safety regulations and ensures contractors work safely set forth by the company and local laws.

• Provides analysis on performance, reliability, and economics of mining.

• Identifying, solving, and putting corrective and preventive actions into place to overcome mining and associated manufacturing issues.

• Maintains records of all production related activities in the mines.

• Plays an active role in coordination with contractor in training mining operators about regulations, process changes, equipment upgrades, procedural modifications.

• Follows and implements the principles of 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management and Problem Solving.

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering

• Minimum 3 years of working experience in minerals or mining industry

• Excellent understanding of mining regulations 

• Strong team player with excellent communication, problem solving and coordination skills

• Working collaboratively with local and global mining team and operations to develop action plans arising from key learnings

• Serves as official Technical Supervisor for one of the mines

• Field applied knowledge of Operational Excellence, TPM, 5S, and LEAN Manufacturing tools and concepts

• Good command of written and spoken English preferred

• Male candidates having completed their military service

• No restrictions for international travel

• Having a valid driving license

• Based or wiling to live in Unye
